Necro-Animation

Ok this is just what ive been able to think up in the last 20 minutes.. ALL INPUT IS WELCOME.
My idea is a system to create custom undead creatures and minions using Necro-Animation..
Players would start just like they do with bio-engineering, by finding the book of the dead.. which could be dropped by a special creature (Grizzle Perhaps or a new one). So the read the book of Necro animation thus enabling them to use the Mortuary tools. these tools can all be combined into one as in bio-engineering, or they can all be seperate
5 pieces wouls be nessecary to create a new minion

Brain
gives the minion its Int and Mana
To harvest a brain one would have to slay a creature and attempt to use either the mortuary tool or the specialized tool to attempt to harvest from the corpse. The more int and mana the harder to harvest. Also success rates would figure from your forensic evaluation skill.
Heart
gives the minion its Dex and Str
To harvest a heart would be the same as a brain but with difficulty checks associated with dex and str. Also success rates would figure from your forensic evaluation skill.
Spirit
gives the minion its Special and HP
This would be done by creating a vial of entrapment with the toolkit. this vial would then check SS or necro skill when used on a creature when attmpting to bottle their soul. Upon success the creature dies.
Hide
Determines the minion's resists.
An evil skinning knife would be used on a corpse and give you a hide. Also success rates would figure from your forensic evaluation skill.
Stomach
Determines the Stamina and counter.
Same harvest method as brain and heart.

Animation
Once the crafter harvests what he needs for his minion he returns to his lab and uses the mortuary kit to produce a Lifeless body. Here he would have the option of what his creature would look like. each with its own difficulty. Success would check Tailoring, and Forensic Eval...then add the difficulty of each body type.
Skeliton +5%
Mummy+15%
Lich+25%
Gore Fiend+50%
Grizzle+75%
Bone Demon+100%

A corpse would appear void of any life. This is where the Filled Vial of entrapment would be used to attempt to breath life into the corpse of your new minion based on your Necromancy skill and Spirit Speak...

So i know this sounds like alot and might be a pain but i think would be awesome if we get it up and running.. Give me your ideas

I can only really say that it's a good idea and put together pretty well. I haven't gotten into the Bio thing yet, haven't even thought about it because it just seems you have to be pretty strong yourself in order to get all the stuff necessary to make it.

But I digress, good idea, would like to see it come together myself.

I like the idea, of course, personally, I would make a few changes myself. But, everyone wants everything "their" own way, right?

While reading what you had to say, I took everything into consideration not from a players point of view, but from a scriptor's. I understand that you want to have to harvest the body parts from the dead body, but that differs from the Bio-Engineering a little.

I don't think I would be able to tackle this by myself. In fact, I know I can't. If you wanted something exactly like Bio-Engineering but a little different in the crafting section, I could do that. I'm not saying that this is not possible, because it is.

I could actually script most of this and just leave the other bits and pieces to someone a little more advanced in the scripting department. I really like your ideas. It all took me by surprise actually because you had mentioned "Brain, Heart, Soul etc."

I'll give it my best.

as far as having it my way.... It doesnt need to be.. I just know that balance is the key for having it pass the staffs critique

Jill as you know I have been doing LOTS of Bio stuff and saw this idea and personally I love it! 2 reasons. Not only will it open up more options for people IE chose to either Bio or Necro craft a pet. Also I think it would greatly add to the Necro-negitive karma non druid power. Maybe put in a karma check with it, the worse your karma the better chance.
Great idea tho really do love it.

if this is gonna run along side with bio pets now, thatll be a cool idea using karma, pos karma you get the bio, an neg karma you get the necro... itll defeat the purpose of having both, good an evil dont fight along side now do they?

Personally I believe this is a great Idea, but you'd have to add just a few more monster skins
figure out what the cap stats would be (not necessarily the bio cap stats cause of the specials they could have)

The idea about special and counter not being together is also great,
Also having the Special take from Mana and influenced by int would be better cause Bios run outta Stam easily,
  • hp drain (its so necro)
  • Maybe a form change like necro spells, It'd make it interesting and wouldn't make choosing a form hard
  • Poison strike
Counter would take from Stam but also be something a little fun like maybe, a skill that that drops phy, fire, and poison resist

Basically Awesome Idea, cause I hate how bad karma'd people arent supported at all in this shard

Keep up the good work!

*I'll add to this later if I come up with anything

I love the idea of the special taking from mana as opposed to stamina..heres a few special/counter ideas

Specials
Cold Blood
Creature does a large cold damage attach and freezes the opponent turning him ice hued for the duration of his frozen time
Decay
Opponent temporarily loses a % of all resists
Pestilence
An area poison attack like Acid-Rain
Dark Feast
A bleed attack that heals the attacker as much as damage done.. 100%leeching bleed
Unholy Light
High damage energy attack to all creatures on screen

Counters
Shadowed Vision
Temporary Defense Chance Increase
Undead Flesh
Temporary immunity to cold and poison attacks
Fear
Causes attacker to run in fear

Keep the ideas coming!!

Nice ideas I can imagine Dark Feast/Fear would rule the world!

Fear could be a little annoying at times though =]

Yes, indeed, you may keep the ideas coming, however this is an extreme amount of scripting. It could be a year before this is completed with the current workload we have. So yes, you may continue discussing it but it will not be realized for quite some time. It is quite easy to come up with ideas, however making those ideas a part of the game is a lot more complicated and time consuming.
Also, remember that when coming up with such ideas, shard balance must be considered with every step. Some of these Attacks and Counters are much too powerful by their current definition. The overall concept is quite interesting however, so please continue to give input and find where the flaws of balance might be. One day it might be realized.

Well for more powerful effects we'd just have to make the chance of it happening a little lower, or put a drawback to it
That would keep the balance in mind x'D

hmm Balance..... Balance... hmmm heres another idea for balance.. Keep these minions really powerful but add a Decay clock to them. Zombies eventually will rot completely away. say 5% stat loss every week or so? or something similer until they are useless
