A reminder for those who are under disciplinary restriction:

Also, making note of the inappropriate words that have gotten you in trouble previously is just as inappropriate as using them the first time. Of course, this is common sense for most.

The great thing about FreeShards, is its free... And the thing to do with FreeShards, is to go with the flow...Dash Ravishing wrote:No PVP - Glorified Chat Room

Free = Can't get anymore 'FREE' than that...
Going with the flow; After 4 (thats FOUR) this shard has been running...
General Rules are pretty much the same everywhere, with a few twists an tweaks to thee creators likings...
Creating an atmosphere that clearly says (however it is worded) "No PvP", generally creates the tender side of uo (imo)...
Why should we have a Free Speech when something is 'FREE'...
I for one, came here for the tender side of uo, not sure whats tender when your soloing 3 minotuars, lol, not my point...
Many if not all, came here for the lack of pvp, which the people that do come here and "try" to take over, an get a runon pvp system going, where are they now? Gone.... To another shard... Becuz pvp at the time was not, i repeat W A S N O T welcome here... still is...
when that poll was up, for a short while, it was kind of neck in neck, then in like a 10 min span, the results shot down the idea of pvp due to the "peacekeepers" waking up an realizing they will be looking for another shard if this happens. Now how many of them actully looked at the system befor hand? No idea...
But the bottom line is this....
The people who once came here looking for a non pvp shard, will be in search of a new non pvp shard. They will find one and start over... I can almost bet on that the Admins here will never implement a pvp system here, in hopes that the majority of the people who came here in the beginning to call this 'Home' because of the 'No PvP Allowed' will simply Not Leave...Licos wrote:this is a family shard, and PvP tends to bring out the worst in people. Massive trash talk ensues...PvPers try to entice the new players into a killable zone...rules start getting violated by PvPers attempting new ways to kill people outside the PvP areas...older, more established players start leaving because the shard they chose went through a radical change...etc.
Big gamble there, no need to tamper with a server thats been running a non pvp shard for 4+ years, and still seeing new faces joining and calling this Home....

You all have to be kidding me... This server is fantastic and I enjoy not being looted every time I try and earn some cash or kill a champ. What coli says is right, it's too hard to create a server made for both pvp and pvm. If you don't like it, tough. Go move to another server. What's that you say? You don't want to start off fresh and not be able to get any gear or train? Same for young players. There's no fun in PVP, because there's always some bragging little kid taking the fun out of it, or a sore loser who knows nothing but cuss words. If they admit PVP into the server, you will see the jail/ban rate skyrocket. You all keep bringing up this subject and there's one simple fact you all keep trying to ignore. This server will never be a pvp server. Stop ignoring it and trying to change it. More people are satisfied with it being a PVM server. Don't like it? Change servers.

I don't pay attention to dates. If it's interesting and I have something to say, I'm going to say it, regardless of how hypocritical it is. Furthermore, this subject will never be laid to rest. Whether it's supporting or denying the cause, it WILL be brought up again sometime in the future.

Obviously YOU don't get it. You forced YOURSELF to read an out of date thread, and didn't have to. That was all on you. The fact that you replied, is all on you. You made your own stomach cringe when you forced yourself to read an out of date thread. Since you brought up this was out of date, I'm assuming you already knew when you opened, only to tell me it was out of date. Don't read it if you're going to get upset about it.

Re: Anti pvp? Lack of excitment
To start off, hostility is pointless and should simply, stop. I've posted in this thread before, and one's with similar topics, and have met both the good and bad ends of doing so. Secondly, let me point out that when I started here I was probably one of the biggest advocates behind having a larger scale form of PvP. But after spending well over half a year here, I've come to realize that implementing such a thing would be more trouble than it's worth. That does not go to say that I wouldn't still enjoy seeing it, but I've settled for what is available, as I'm sure anyone else will who truly enjoys everything else Excelsior has to offer.
As for people being flamed for posting in this thread, or any other similar thread; that's just childish. The topic might be "dead" to those of us who've been here for some time, but it might not be to others. And despite the grief it may cause some vets reading through it again, there is no one forcing anyone to read anything posted in this thread. It's not different than the person who complains they're way overweight yet continues to buy cakes and pies and consume them daily.
If the topic isn't meant to be discussed, I'm sure it'd have been locked. No one knows for sure, if someone could come along and pop out and original idea that might be more entertaining than what's already in this thread. I don't believe referencing any of the older threads would be beneficial either, considering the poll thread wasn't exactly unanimous. From looking at it, there were 45 votes against it, with 34 either for it, or moderately approving of it; with another 8 that didn't care either way. So in essence, it was a split decision.
Not to sound redundant, but; hostility isn't needed; PvP most likely won't be implemented, so do not complain when someone has something negative to say about it; and flaming those who wish to discuss the benefits of it, is childish. Have your cake, and eat it too.

The old topic links i posted was to show how long these threads have gone, and to see how many times we/everyone repeated ourselves...

Take care.
