Rock Jail

Post by +Nyx »

Colibri has finished the new jail system, and it has been being implemented recently. I'm sure many of you have heard about it by now, but I figured the staff needed to post an announcement and explanation to minimize confusion.

When you are moved to rock jail, you will be in this room. There are 3 books that you should read for information regarding the process of working your way out of jail as well as the rules. Educating oneself is the responsibility of the player, you will not be granted leniency for "I didn't know" if you fail to read the books and then violate the rules of this jail.

After educating yourself, approach the Warden. He will give you a special jail llama and a task to complete. Each task will require you to collect 8-12 of a specific resource. The pack llama has slow movement speed and must be within 1 tile of you in order for you to successfully collect a resource. When you find the resource you are currently tasked with collecting, double click it and it will be placed into the llama's pack. Once you have completed the required collects, return to the main room and double click the resource cart to complete your task. Approach the Warden again, and be given your next task. Each jail task takes approximately 5 minutes to complete if done properly.

Once you have finished all of your assigned tasks, you may step onto the world teleporter and leave jail.

Notes:
- Jail tasks do not decay. You must work the tasks off, or you will never be released from jail. You can work at your own pace, but it's up to you how fast or slow you are out.
- You may not opt to abandon your account and make another to circumvent heavy jail tasks. If you are found to have done this, it will be treated as an extremely heavy violation and result in a ban for both accounts. This includes being caught using an account that belongs to your spouse/housemate/friend/kid/etc. You would be responsible for getting someone you care for banned by using their account, so just don't do it.
- If you find yourself in rock jail, don't be a jerk. Don't scream, cuss, name-call, threaten, or otherwise be rude to the staff. It isn't going to earn you even an ounce of sympathy toward a sentence reduction. All it will do is earn you more tasks to complete. We aren't monsters, and in many cases we do cut a player some slack. But if you do something wrong and then start being a snot to us, we're not going to feel like doing you any favors. If you're asking for leniency, it's always a smart idea to do at least half your tasks before you start asking for anything. This shows us you're at least somewhat willing to accept responsibility for your actions.
- Exploiting any aspect of the jail will result in extremely heavy numbers of jail tasks added to your sentence. Report any bugs/exploits you find and don't use them. Just because you report it, doesn't mean it's okay to go on using it to benefit yourself.

That's all I can think of in terms of pertinent information at this time. I will modify this post as I think of things or as things are updated/changed.

The staff are still ironing out what will eventually be the new punishment scale on the codex. However, while that is in process, we have a 'working scale' that is being used for punishments in the mean time. This scale was created by Colibri and is what V and I are following.

For AFK violations:
1st offense - warning + 10 jail tasks
2nd offense - weapon confiscated for 1 month/Resources confiscated permanently + 50 jail tasks
3rd offense - weapon/resources permanently confiscated + 500 jail tasks
4th offense - weapon/resources permanently confiscated, 5mil gold fine + 2500 jail tasks
Further offenses - weapon/resources permanently confiscated, 5 mil gold fine + 5x the previous level of jail tasks.

If you are found AFK, moved to jail, and do not reply for a long time (10 minutes or more), you will be given extra jail tasks for every 10 minute block you are still AFK.

For other punishments, we are currently working on a staff discretion basis.
Minor exploits will receive 100 jail tasks.
Chat violations for repeat violators or egregious violations will receive 10+ tasks.
Disrespect toward the staff would receive 50+ tasks.
For each violation that doesn't already have a pre-discussed scale or a precedent set, the staff discuss it amongst themselves and decide on it on a case-by-case basis. We factor in the player's offense, their history, and their time on the shard while determining the number of tasks.

Most of these punishments will likely receive tweaks in the future, and the codex will be updated once a permanent punishment scale has been decided on.

Known bugs & issues with rock jail:
FIXED - Llamas are able to be shrunk and thus smuggled out of jail and sold for profit.
FIXED - Multi-clicking the ore cart results in more than 1 task removal. While this bug is still active, we will be assigning traditional jail time along with the jail tasks, the 'regular jail' will be equivalent to the amount of time your tasks should take you to complete. If we find you out of rock jail before the minimum amount of time has been reached, you'll be in big trouble.
FIXED - Warden doesn't properly announce the number of remaining tasks.
FIXED - Various skill and spellcasting that would benefit the player.
FIXED - Player able to kill their llama and remove the resources.
FIXED - World teleporter occasionally had resources spawned on it, making it unusable.
FIXED - Jail resources don't decay.

Reporting these same bugs will not result in a sentence reduction, as we are already aware of them. However, if we catch you making use of any of these issues, especially the ore cart, you will have your jail time increased dramatically. Colibri is aware of these issues and has already coded fixes for the ones V and I weren't able to fix ourselves, but the shard needs a reboot for them to go live and he has not yet had time to do one.

With the server reboot earlier today, the ore cart has been fixed as well as the ability to bracelet out, and shrinking llamas.
