Okay, here's the thing- I am computer illiterate. I don't know how to do anything beyond download the torrent on my little torrent downloader. I have tried asking for help several times and, on the rare occasion i do get an answer, it's a vague 2-3 word response. 3 years ago, the people on the shard were more eager and willing to help each other out to ensure everyone can enjoy the game. What happened?!?! I know many of you have seen me try to ask questions in WC and probably think me rather annoying- it wouldn't be like that if someone would take the time to help out a fellow player.

Now, again I ask-
WHAT DO I DO AFTER I'VE DOWNLOADED THE FILE? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE FILE TO THE GAME.

Or, if I've missed some sort of instruction somewhere, then correct me. However, "DL the patch and read the instructions" (that idk how to get to) doesn't tell me anything. I've looked and there's no help.

this is what is written in the instructions. hope it helps

"To patch your client:

- Close your UO client as well as any UO utility programs such as Auto Map, Razor, Easy UO, Open Easy UO, etc.

- Unzip the patch files, make note of where you are unzipping them to. I recommend unzipping them to your desktop.

- Open your UO directory

- Select all of the patch files, drag and drop them onto your UO directory.

- Select "Move and Replace" for all files.

- Once the copy is finished, reboot your computer. Open UO before opening any other programs.

- Enjoy!


Alternate instructions:

If you wish to use a separate UO installation for the patch, create a duplicate of your Excelsior installation and then copy the patch files into this directory, choosing "move and replace" for all files requested."

I just wanted to say that I am very impressed with the determination and the work it must have taken to get this far. Minus some of the minor bugs (invisible mount for me, which I love!), the patch is working superbly. Thank you and great job +Nyx.

SO far I've had no problems with the patch but when I took an escort to vesper a window popped up saying I had something wrong with my password and kicked me out of the game. I came back on afterwords with no problems yet. Just wanted to let you know this is the only odd things I've experienced otherwise patch works great.

I noticed this morning that on my alt, my mule that I was riding looked like a regular tan horse, but when I dismount it turns back to the dark colored normal looking mule.

I have a new version of the patch ready that is drastically updated - Last week I had a lightbulb moment and a brilliant idea hit me on how to make the wearable items work. So all last week I spent 10-16 hours a day working on that and testing them all. Everything's working great, and the initial test group of players have had no problems after installation of this update. Since it's running well for the test group and myself, I'd like to add a larger group of test subjects before I make this update public just in case anything new arises that I can fix. If you would like to test this updated version of the patch, please send a page in game (You can escalate the page if you need to log out, or have anything else to page about in the mean time). I will PM you with a URL for the download. You would then unzip the .rar file and paste the files over your patched UO directory, exactly the same way as before. I'd then want you to check in with me via page or PM after installation, and every so often for a few days, to give me a status report on whether you've had any problems or if it's running well for you.

Note, you will not SEE anything new or different in-world in this update, this was just to add a few more deco items and make the wearables work. I'll add an NPC in the patch test room that will be decked out head to toe in new items, so you can verify your updated patch is installed correctly. Once this goes live to the entire shard, V and I will begin developing new armor and weapons with the 200+ equippable items I have added in this update

Alright, the updates seem stable so I am releasing them for everyone to try.

The installation is the same as before - log out of all UO clients and applications, unzip the files, copy them over your desired UO directory. Select "move and replace" for all.

Report any NEW issues - if it's in the original patch notes, don't page about it

Love the new patch only issue I am having is while trying on outfits for the wedding the female Kimono is giving me a glitch. While I can see it on my character in the game, my paper doll appears nude and I can not then remove the kimono, as it does not show up on the paper doll. And so far this is the outfit I want to use for the wedding. Any ideas? I did try logging in and out to fix it, but only way to remove it is b using razor and paper doll is still showing her as naked.

The female kimono has never worked on Excelsior. Since I don't have the original gump image to work with, the best I can do is try to take the male version and make it shaped to the female character. It won't likely be in time for this weekend, though.

When I try to download the new updated patch (bottom link), it takes me to a page that says:

"Error (509)
This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled! "

I'll try again later, but I thought you might like to know. :)

I was getting the out of memory error quite frequently. My computer has more then enough memory to handle everything. Sometimes the game would work and other times it would.

Following the suggestion to killing the LCore process to free up memory I was looking around for other things that was chewing up memory. I was running Chrome with various UO sites ready. It hit me, Chrome is naturally very memory intensive.The more tabs you have the more memory it sucks up. As soon as I closed up Chrome, I could run UO again. Then I could start up Chrome afterwards.

Some other memory intensive programs you can temporarily exit until UO is running:
Internet Explorer
Steam
EA's Origin

Hopefully this might help any others having the same issue.
