Re: Hunger Games Event
Haven't been around too long, so I was wondering if there are any safe guards or what not in place during PvP events, in regards to equipment, or are we just on our own with insurance and what-not?
Also, not to seem too overly concerned with personal gain, but is there much point for newb's to show up to these events (besides the 'fun-on-a-bun', of course), where there will likely be toons with multiple relayers just waiting to get a laugh out of our feeble attempts to hold our own?

Re: Hunger Games Event
what they could do, is strip everyone of their armor and have a set of armor and weapons set up in boxxes for the layers to use during the event. that way people dnt complain to much bout other people using relayers and everything ^_^ plus that would also make it more interesting also ^_^. but this is just my opinion and wanted to get it out there.

Re: Hunger Games Event
players*
Re: Hunger Games Event
For the first match, 0 gold buy in and anyone can participate. Gear will be provided with skill bonuses that raise the player to 100.0 for all required skills. The skill list is as follows:
Swordsmanship
Archery
Mace Fighting
Fencing
Tactics
Anatomy
Parry
Cooking
Blacksmithing
Tailoring
Carpentry
Poisoning
Tinkering
Bowcraft and Fletching
Lumberjacking
Alchemy
Mining
Taste Identification
Healing
Stealing
Mechanics of Event:
No resurrection. If you are dead, you are eliminated. There will be mechanics in place that will move you out of the battle grounds when you die. No spells will be available for use except what you can find off a sponsor in the form of scrolls or a hit property on a weapon. Hiding will be disabled.
Progression of Event:
All participants will be placed outside of, and around the cornucopia. When the game starts, each player will have to make a choice between running to the center of the cornucopia to grab a weapon, or or immediately running away and grabbing a backpack. Grabbing a backpack will provide you with tools for you to run into the wilderness and start harvesting materials and crafting gear to increase your chances in battle. Running to the center of the cornucopia allows you the chance of obtaining a powerful weapon (or many) that will not be available by any other means during the event. Each of these choices has its downfall. Running to grab a weapon and/or armor from the center may get you killed. If you survive, It may leave you unable to find a backpack after the scramble. Running away and grabbing a backpack will likely lead you into the strategy of evading others and building up your gear. The difficulty with this strategy is slowly building your gear up while knowing that the players with the strongest weapons will be hunting you down while you are at your weakest. The following will be the contents of each backpack:
1 use tinker tool
1 use saw
6 iron ingots
6 wood boards
2 apples
2 bandages
2 empty bottles
2 bola balls
Careful use of these beginning resources is the difference between life and death.
Wildlife:
At full spawn, there will be 20 horses roaming the battle grounds. These horses respawn at 1 per 5-10 minutes. They deal no damage, have very little armor, and have 1 hit point. While fragile, using them on a player to catch them off guard can give you the upper hand in an ambush. Using one can get you away from an unmounted attacker. However, knocking a player off their horse and slaying it can give them a great disadvantage during a fight or flight situation.
Rabbits, hinds, and bulls will also be available for those interested in utilizing their tailoring skill. These animals are not tamable.
Crafting Apparatus:
As many know, crafting requires the use of tools other than kits. The follow is a crafting apparatus count for the entire battle grounds:
7 forges
5 anvils
None of these are paired. So, ideally, you will want to find a location for mining that has a forge. Then, you will have to find an anvil for blacksmithing.
Reagents and Alchemy:
The following reagents will be available in the wilderness:
Black Pearl (3 locations)
Bloodmoss (3 locations)
Ginseng (7 locations)
Mandrake Root (3 locations)
Nightshade (2 locations)
Potion creation is the only use for reagents during this event. Black pearl can be found by large bodies of water. Bloodmoss seems to grow near smaller pools. Ginseng grows near flower beds. Mandrake root tends to grow around willow trees. Nightshade likes to share places with large fungus. Each growing area is no larger than 8 square tiles. Respawn rate for reagents in the wild is between 2-5 minutes.

Re: Hunger Games Event
This sounds like a really exciting event. I wish I could just watch, as I'm not really a PVPer. I could maybe last a while if I ran off to hide, though. :)

Re: Hunger Games Event
This looks like a really well concocted event.
Nice map! (was that an existing map or did you guys build it?) I am sure it would pay to memorize it.
Although I am not overly fond of PvP but this does sound really exciting :)

Perhaps you should team with someone(s) hehee... you win in greater numbers... right? Hmmm... I think I will hide some weps/gear in one of them buildings at Lakeshire. Doh! I shouldn't have say that out loud!!!

That sounds like it could go well until the very end, when it would go all "Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!"
Draco: That's the southeastern section of Ilshenar (Spirituality/Sacrifice Shrines, Lakeshire, & Blood Dungeon area).

Re: Hunger Games Event
I thought it looked familiar :)
Good choice then, it seems to have some interesting elements for this type of event.
