Post by Harabakc »

So one of the first gen oil submerged PC cases have been released.

I first saw an oil submerged machine about... I don't know 3-4 years ago. But someone is finally making a commercially available case and submerging the power supply and everything.

Wow cool :)

Yea, they even made it by submerging in distilled water (since it has no electrolytes it doesn't conduct electricity). But i guess this could be an option for someday. I just hope all the oil drains from it in a few minutes... because cleaning components with a detergent won't be nice :)

Putting a computer in pure water is fundamentally flawed, because of all the metal parts. Some of the metal will eventually get dissolved into the water, making it conductible.

Yes, also distilled water is a little corrosive so i guess it wasn't a long term solution. But i wouldn't doubt it much if they could run it for a few minutes or hours.

Just been trying to find it on google but can't find anything, so perhaps it was a hoax :)

I'm not a fan of the distilled water, because you'd have to cleanse new hardware before entering it into the system incase of contamination. It would suck to put in a new piece of hardware and create an imbalance in the water and have things short out, heh.
