I think it was due to temporary network interference, it should be all ok now.

whens the last time you restarted you own client as in not just logout but completely close uo and re-open it, 9 times out of 10 this clears up any lag im having, and for that other 1/10 a comp restart should take care of it or a simple double check make sure no torrents and downloaders are up and running, these things may not seem to take alot of bandwith but your upload rate being cut by 25% will make the game speed drop by 60% so check your client cache by restart and comp memory by computer restart before assuming all lag is on the shard side =D

There is no such thing as lag.

Chuck Norris said so.

Just restart your computer and it will fix the "interference"

I’m having a lot of bad lag and I must say it is not an usual lag; more than that, it’s a traitor lag that smartly reaches its maximum only when I’m being attacked by things so I can’t take any providences to defend myself of the npc s and beasts that we see in the facet’s lands.

And I can assure two things:

1) this is not due to a low CPU speed, I mean, this is not a FPS related issue;
2) my connection enables me to navigate web sites or even play many other online games in a very satisfactory speed, without lag; It’s not a slow connection, although it’s not the fastest connection one would find in the market.

So, once my problem is not CPU or internet connection related, I was wondering why I am having so much trouble to play UO in the Excelsior shard.

Wait!! I’m not blaming the shard for my issues and I am not saying the shard host is of low quality or anything alike. I’m just saying that I’m having an issue that some others seem to be having as well and I am JUST asking for help.

In other words, can anyone think of a way I could solve this issue?

Maybe it could be solved just by changing any UO settings or maybe download something, I don’t know. I’m a UO lamer and I am just wondering, you know…

So that’s it, thanks.

Do you use razor? If you do make sure you have negotiate features with server un checked on the bottom right of the option page.

How do you know it's not cpu lag? What are your system stats?

One thing you need to note: even though UO client is an ancient program (well, they keep it updated), on my computer it uses anywhere between 10-50% CPU (quad core!). I think it's just not very optimally written.

What you can check also is if you have any "connection optimization" enabled, that can help some things but harm others.

I recently came across this perhaps useful video:
http://householdhacker.com/2009/04/how- ... -mmo-ping/
CAUTION & ATTENTION: It involves changing your registry, I take no responsibility for any damages made to your computer
I don't think it could help much, but if you are out of options then i think it's one of the things to consider.
