You have to use a weapon that has the infectious strike ability, and activate the special ability in order to poison monsters

it doesn't matter what material your weapon is mad, if it has infectious strike as a primary or secondary weapon ability, you can deal poison damage over time if a poison is applied to the weapon.

In paper doll, next to pack, is a purple book with a knife on it. Double click to open. Drag out those 2 icons like a spell. They are your primary and secondary weapon ability. dbl click to turn red, and it will use the ability on your next strike.
