Four questions

Post by Kaervas »

I can't find any commands or options to do the following, so I am asking in case there are any handy tricks or something obvious that I overlooked that would address one or more of these issues. In-game or Razor methods only please, no EasyUO scripts.
With the exclusion of EasyUO, the answer is probably no on all four counts, but thanks in advance for any solutions.

1. Can I stop the game closing my inventory bags for ANY reason (short of the bag leaving my possession), including but not limited to:
  • Facet change
    House customization
Death - Main pack + blessed containers should not close (non-blessed bags that fall to my corpse will, of course)
Right-clicking - You're reading this right, I even want the bags to remain open even if I inadvertently try and close them
Put simply, an absolute lock that cannot be broken short of toggling it off the way it was toggled on.

2. Can I make the game remember the position of every gump between play sessions? I'm tired of nearly every gump resetting to a (terrible) default location after logging out. It's getting to the stage where I try to avoid logging out so that I don't have to meticulously reset every gump to a pixel-perfect position over again.

3. Can I force a default bag-opening location other than the top right corner of the screen? It is quite inconvenient on a widescreen monitor and the cascading opening bags are also pretty bothersome since they hold a happy parade across the screen to the far edges.

4. Can I cancel a shapeshift form with a command? Reasons include canceling the effects of Polymorph or Incognito early, or undoing a Necromancy form without taking a second karma hit, or canceling any type of shapeshift in a no-spells-allowed zone.

I apologize for not being able to answer all your questions, however I know i have canceled some spells such as lich for angel form and the druid spells by mid cast removing my bow so i am sure it was not a fluke and can be done regularly if needed as it causes to to lose concentration. Regardless of protection spell on or off as I usually am always with it on except for the rare occassion. As for the backpacks and gumps I am not sure you can but i do recall seeing something in the options for getting them to organize for you(Check box) I will confirm where abouts it is and how accurate my memory is and msg you in game. Sorry could not have been more help and good luck in finding an answer as I would like to keep a few gumps up as well after logging.

You can go into options (the options button on your papperdoll) and there is an option in there for the cascading bags. The rest of the bag stuff is a thing in the way the client runs. The client can not be altered, so you can't change that stuff. As with the shape shifting stuff, don't know anything about that.

I'm aware about the cascading bags, I'm saying I don't like them either, though I do use them since they're better than the bags opening in the top right corner all the time.

If it really can't be altered then I'll just have to live with it. I'm probably expecting too much from an old client.

Unfortunately the answer to all of your questions is No. Most of these features have been for quite some time built into the actual core of the client, long before free shards existed.

Although some brave scripters temp fate by making adjustments to the Core of the client to change sometimes trivial things, most don't. Making a change to the "external" scripts that promote customization within a private server is comparatively simple. Even the custom crafting and taming systems that we enjoy which are vastly different from main stream, pay to play EA servers, is relatively straight forward in understanding what needs to be done in order to effect a change (and trust me, that is one heck of a lot of custom scripts to pull off all the changes that Daat99 [the original scripter] did when designing one of the key features of most private servers.)

Core changes are another world entirely because you actually start changing the mechanics of gameplay (i.e. changing actual mouse/keystroke combos) as opposed to adding new content based upon the Core rules.

Coli may be able/williing to take a stab at this, but I for one would not slight him in the least if he didn't want to take a chance for something (no offence intended) as minor as gump location or inadvertant bag closing.

I figured it'd be something like that, and I'm absolutely aware that all 4 questions are minor things that don't affect the overall gameplay experience much. Thanks for clearing it up.

Many aspects of the client were designed as anti-macro code. Bags opening all over the place and items jumping around in your pack (ie, as when making potions) are examples of this. It makes it harder to automate brute force clicks on the client window.

EUO can set where the next container will open, or even open a specific container at a specific location, but you already know that.

I hope you don't take my above post the wrong way about making light of your questions. Far from the truth, actually, as I think many of those options would actually enhance the gaming experience, and are valid suggestions. Valid, but still a pain in the butt to change.

Don't stop suggesting things that could possibly improve gameplay!! :dance

Yep, no worries. I got what you were trying to say loud and clear.

I'd just like to clear up that I wasn't asking for a change though (of course it'd be great if it happened but I saw how the suggestions forum was closed) but just checking if there was any obvious method of doing any of the 4 things that I'd somehow overlooked, even though I'm pretty sure I checked carefully :P
