UO Excelsior & Ubuntu

I am wanting to play on the shard as it seems to be the best free shard out there by the ads I have seen for the shard & what I have read on the site. I am a long time player of playing Ultima Online however I always played on a windows computer and now I am using a computer with ubuntu and I was wanting to get UO working with ubuntu but am having problems, I have tried everything possible. Razor don't seem to want to install right through wine & neither does connectUO, I don't know what other avenue to take. I have tried changing the login information in the login.cfg file and I can log in with a username and password and I see the shard but then it goes straight to verifying account and sticks at that. If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Bless you for using ubuntu thats the best operating system you'll ever get.
You cannon't use razor without mono and I don't have any idea how to install that so lets go to the second option!

1. Install wine
2. Download this: http://forums.polserver.com/download/file.php?id=573
3. Install uo [if not installed yet]
4. Go to command prompt and paste "wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks" and hit the enter button [remove quotes]
5. When thats done "type sh winetricks corefonts dotnet20" [remove quotes]
6. When that is done type "sudo apt-get install cabextract" [remove quotes]
7. Edit the login.cfg so it says

;Loginservers for Ultima Online
;Do not edit this file or patching will fail! Always save a backup.
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
LoginServer=shard.uoex.net,60

8. Open the program you just downloaded from pol browse to your client.exe select it and click "Patch that ******"
9. Open client.exe and enjoy uo

Note that there will be errors and that uo was made for windows mono might be better for you but idk how to do that

I have tried all of that and it doesn't seem to work. I log in and can see the shard and when I click the shard it goes to connecting.. and then gets stuck there.

I ran UO in VirtualBox for a while on Archlinux, using both XP and Windows 7 VMs. This is by far the easiest way, though you do have to boot Windows as a VM, even if it's much, much quicker to boot it virtually than as a dual boot.

EDIT: Also you need a decent machine to run a VM comfortably. Lots of RAM, especially.
