Lootable Items: It is in your best interest to loot everything, 2 reasons. 1 you can sell it (wont make anything really but every little helps. 2. You can drop it in your token bag and you will need tokens at one point or another for pet bonding deeds and so on.

I disagree - the time it takes you to loot, sort, sell/trash the gear could be spent on more hunting, netting you more gold (and tokens for kills) on average. Looting stuff is actually good only for the high end bosses where you get the gear that is worth selling.

Make Money Quick: When you start you can do a quest over and over again for 27 days ( i believe ). It is located through the portal in the new player area. The quest is to kill 16-20 rats, doing this gives you like 2k gold and 80-120 organics used to make bios and a veteran will buy them off you for 200k, or you can sell them on [exex

It's 21 days actually. You get to the newb dungeon (where the rat quest is) to it by using the portal in training room [=>Custom => Training Room on world teleporter] (there is no such thing as 'new player area'). Lastly the organics sell for ~200 a piece, so you get around 20k per run, not 200k.

ok so i said 27 I THINK, and i was ment to put 1k orgs for 200k, and the training room is new player area, where the dungeon is, and also u DISAGREE with the looting thing, DOESNT MAKE IT WRONG AND THE 2K GOLD IS WHAT YOU GET ALONG WITH THE ORGS!!!!

there are some things i disagree with. don't use the skill ball on taming. especially if your going to use it to get to 100 you can actually craft your way up even afk.

make money quickly: make 5 character and do the rat quest over and over and over again with each character. there is no time limit between the multiple characters. just a time limit between that character and 30 mins.

fyi: don't use claimall in the citadel. your just gonna be messing up your bag.

time respawn is from the time the monster is killed not looted. so you can take your time and not have to wait.

i sell nobles at 90k ea maxed.

oh btw: thanks redmist as i know your just trying to help. it's nice seeing players help each other.

yes it is probally in the book in the youth centre, but people dont find out about the youth centre untill they have been playing for 5months, ive been around for a long time and also stated it was just off my experience and what i have done. This is what got me to where i am today.

i am always helping people answering questions as best as i can, but i thought just put it up here nd somewhere is going to see it, so if you all reply with what you think is right they can make a choice for what works best for them.

its a complete waste of time using [claimall just for a couple tokens. with 60 str the player will spend most of their time tossing items in the junk bag.

also using a +60 skill ball on taming is just newbish and a waste of the skillball as the skill is cheap and easy to gm in no time.


redmist if your going to write a new player help thread then you should have a lot more experience!!!

Listen, i said if your camping an area then claiming the corpse i.e [claimall will make the spawns quicker.

and as far as experience goes, i am still new to this shard 8 months approx: and am still learning, was just sharing what people told me and how i got to where i am today.

Ive not been arround this shard as long as some of the other posters but i can say that with as many new players that join this shard daily there is alot of "mis information" or half of the info you need to understand something, the others posting are just making sure people get the right information and dont get wrong info or not know about certain things like not using the skill ball on taming. i was very mad at myself for not asking in [c about what skill to use it on and just took what i had experianced on other shards as what i should expect with taming here. On an alt i trained it up just to see and it is very easy and cheap to do and I should have saved the skill ball for something else. Dont take everything people say as attacking you maybe they are just trying to make sure the right info is out there, Gl and welcome to the shard

stop posting wrong info and players will stop posting that your wrong. and just because you started playing UO 3 years after i quit really doesnt matter a thing on this shard.


fyi: [claim works just fine for camping if you dont want to spend all your time sorting trash in your pack that wont help you out in the long or short run.

This I agree with. Why just post saying something is useless instead of pointing out how to improve it. I aswell agree that its not worth the time to use "[Claimall" and toss the items away but for players checking through all the loot this is not that much slower.

I would like to advice early players to go to doom with some nobles. Its a great way to make money imo. Just the gold itself is 30k per clear and with 5x nobles its np with GM+ magery to heal. You will need to target down the spawns during DF though, but other than that it's a good challange with good reward.

Mining is a suberb way of making money aswell. 20gp / iron ingot is alot! (As you can do this scripted while browsing or doing something else at the computer)

On the skillball discussion. What skill is worth using it on? I've yet to find a skill that is hard to raise and I've raised most of them. Fishing took the longest but wasn't hard. Took about 10h perhaps to get to 115.

It is not. I still use it sometimes and I'm nowhere near 'new player'. Training room is not a part of the new player dungeon.

Yes, it's newbish, but as far as starting skills are concerned for a UO noob taming is one of the best choices. Sure, there are plenty of skills that may be better suited for a skillball (poisoning? lockpick? fishing?) just beacause they're hard to raise. But if someone needs 50k for +taming gear and a few times as much for the training itself then it's actually betterto use the skillball on AT. Unless you farm the rat quest with 5 chars. 2 times/hour. Then money is not an issue. And if for some reason (lack of knowledge, RL events) you missed your 21 days window and are strapped for cash then gm AT is the way to go - a single high-power pet could get you back on the right track.

Though I agree with anarchy on one point - don't use the ball to get to 100. Buy a 110 or 115 (if you can afford it) taming ps, raise skill to 50/55 (you can tame the pack horses that respawn at the animal trainer NE of TC) and *then* use the skillball if you must.

Correcting something that is not wrong is pointless, point out what you would do not just say its wrong, as i said before i was just stateing what i did, and it has worked very well.

No skill is hard to raise and people use pets most so starting with 100 taming is "I THINK" the best idea albeit "newbish".

Im not raging as such, but saying something is wrong when it isnt wrong is pointless, it might not be what you do but it is not wrong.


Also i will delete my first post, and forget about this topic im not into argueing was just trying to help, why doesnt someone else take the time to put up the correct information as im wrong, and i will wait to see new players shouting ingame for help.
