Map hunting

I was wondering how it works on this shard. Passed shards you use .where and it says x and y coords for in game player and also the map would give you an x and y to go too. Or the map had more detail and you'd go and mine the tile. So i am wondering how do treasure maps work. i open it and it worked, I got my shovel and pick axe and go look around and dig some tiles and still nothing. Are they marks/rocks or something on here to give hints to saying"this is the location of the chest" ?

You can use http://uo.stratics.com/thb/info/maparch ... ive1.shtml to locate the spot then either uo auto map, or razor to find it in world. uoam is probably easier to use since you can goto location, drop a marker, then see "marker east" for example until you get to the spot.
