because making over 20, then they have a higher fail rate. Example. if you make 20 and 1 fails to harvest then you have 19, but if you make 23 and 4 fail, then youve wasted time effort and resources on 4 beehives, when making 20 would of gave you the same outcome.

Get it now?

so if you have 25 and 7 fail to harvest, you get 18 succesful. if you would of had 20 the chances are 18-20 will be successful. so you get same amount if not more when only doing 20.

I thought I would share a one week data collection experiment I did with my bees. For you newer players who haven't started your bees yet, this may help you decide if you want to go in this direction.

I'm kinda new at the bee thing, but I was wondering, do I have to keep feeding the hives GA's and GS's? My hives seem to be doing well without them, but they haven't reached full maturity yet.

The way i do it ( was shown by rough )

give them what ever works for you till they sart producing, after that feed them 1 of each potion every day, works well for me.

Giving 2 GA instead of 1 is a big increase in production (roughly 25%) so *always* put 2 of those. As for GS - heard that they help smaller hives grow faster but I don't have the possibility to check that. They seem to have no effect on a 100k hive if you use 1 GH.

Thank you for all the tips. The wiki is a great starting point, but the information here has really helped with the day to day care of my hives.

Ive got 20 beehives and was wondering if the honey stops at 250 per beehive. Or if its 250 honey for the whole 20 colony of beehives? Also notice its really not that good profits atm. Between the cost of beehive tools and bottles and some sort of pot off the npc. that all adds up quite a lot. Anyway to cut down on the cost for these tools aswell?

I run 18 hives, and I'm thinking it's a total of 250 bottles of honey for 20 hives (I could be very wrong though as I'm still new to it). I average around 220 or so for my 18. As far as cost, the only thing I have to buy on a regular basis are the bottles. I don't have to buy hive tools all that often maybe 20 a week, and I've been using the same wax pot since I started the hives like 3 weeks ago. Personally, I think the biggest expense is the potions, but I also craft those myself to cut down on the costs.

So 255 per hive? Holy crap! How long does it take to reach that level? My hives are 23 days old and averaging 40-42 honey (around 13 jars) per day.
