Newbie seeking help for digging up treasure chest
Hi everyone, I am a long term UOer (Pacific since 1997) but quite new here.
Though a long time UO player, I haven't got experience with treasure hunting. Have got a level 1 map, decoded and located the exact location with UOAM. But the problem was when I started digging, it keeps on telling me that I can't mine on that?? Puzzled @@"

You need to single click on your treasure map, then select "Dig for treasure" and target the spot you wish to search. Using a pick/shovel on the spot directly will not work.

Re: Newbie seeking help for digging up treasure chest
Thank you very much Ilsanor. Being on OSI more than a decade, it's a shame that I haven't even tried to dig up one myself.
. Ex is really a nice place with so many helpful and polite players. Had really made a good decision to move in here and leaving OSI behind...

Well, just remember - a lot of things are not the way they are on OSI. Read or ask, lest ye be surprised.
Oh, and welcome to the shard, hope you're here to stay.
Also - a side note - on OSI you had to target the map with the pick/shov and then again the place to look for treasure. Not sure if it works here too.

You can also double click your shovel and target the map and you wont have to target the ground. Will dig where you are standing. I think mining gives you a wider radius of the number of tiles you have to be within.

Though haven't got a chance to test it now, but really thank you so much everyone!!
Re: Newbie seeking help for digging up treasure chest
"0 to 50.9 mining gives a 1 tile radius (in other words, you must dig the exact correct spot of the chest)
51 to 80.9 mining gives a 2 tiles radius
81 to 99.9 mining gives a 3 tiles radius
100 mining gives a 4 tiles radius"
Not sure if 120 mining gives 5 tiles, or if it doesn't matter at all.

Re: Newbie seeking help for digging up treasure chest
Thanks a lot Ilsanor, I did read the similar thing in UOStratics. But I am think if I have located it using UOAM, is it still necessay to have mining? Haven't got a chance to test it yet since I am in hospital these few days (my mom will have a major heart operation tomorrow)...
Re: Newbie seeking help for digging up treasure chest
Well, as above - without mining you need to dig in the exact coordinates. So yeah, you can do it a 0.0 mining, just need to be more precise with the targeting cursor. And good luck with the operation, hopefully everything goes well.
