Pets Strength

Post by haplol »

Pretty much just started on the server and I was wondering, I know pack instinct pets have reduced stats i.e. 250 str vs 1050 str
but what does 250 strength vs 1050 mean in damage reduction for pets exactly.

Pets with Pack Instinct have lower STR because they work in a pack, the more you have the stronger each one is, up to five. It's 20% each pet. So 3 pets at 60% 5 pets at 100%. Non Pack Instinct pets have higher max STR to compensate. Imprisoned Pets are pack instinct, they drop with 270-370 STR, you cannot use oints to upgrade their STR. Also, Imprisoned Pets don't take stat loss when they die.

I appreciate the reply, but thats not what I was asking, I was just asking the diffrence in damage between 250str and 1050 on the same animal

You're asking the wrong question then. Because a pack instinct animal will NEVER have 1100 or 1050 strength. And a non pack vs a pack is an unfair comparison. If you want to compare a 250 vs 1100 str on a non pack, then the 1100 will do considerably more damage per hit. If you are trying to decide which pets you want as far as damage goes:

5 maxed mules will do less damage than 5 maxed nobles, which will do less damage than 5 imprisoned pets.

well I am asking the right question, people are just making assumptions that I am trying to get information about which pet to use, nobles, imps, and mules. There are other pets that exist and I am asking a specific question not about pack instinct, and that was, what was the exact difference between 250 and 1050 strength on a pet, I know it would be more, I was more looking for numbers, percents, something more specific

I doubt anyone has the answer for you, you're probably going to have to get into breeding and put this to test yourself. Sorry we couldn't help.

I can only give you a little something I noticed while playing with imps. For them STR seems* to work as damage multiplier. Say an imp does 100 dmg before STR is calculated, then a 270STR one would do 100 * 270% = 270 dmg, while a 370STR would do 100 * 370% = 370dmg. I'm not sure where does the imps double damage (100% physical, 100% poison/fire) applies in this model, but I'd assume it's taken into account before STR calculations. Not sure if non-pack animals have the same calculation, or whether it's a straight point-to-point rate (as opposed to a ratio of, say, 1% increase for each 5 points.)

*NOT hard data

If you're trying to do the research yourself I'd suggest using a personal trainer (ask spanky to use his, for example) since it has 0 resists and unlimited health. That way you can observe even minor differences in damage dealt.
