A ? about the Mid-Level December Quest

I am currently at the part of the quest where we're supposed to sneak about some Thieve Leaders (sic) and steal some items.
My issues are:
1. We cannot hide in this area. This fact seems to make me think I am not in the correct area.
2. Are the Thieve Leaders actually the Thief Captains? If so, are we going to be allowed to hide/sneak through their walled off areas per Santa's request?

I have scouted the area, as a corpse, and discovered the 3 locations of the Captains. I am thinking I am on the right track, but could use some confirmation.Are we to just try to run past them and open the chests, or is stealth active in these smaller areas of the dungeons?

sneaking past them = run like hell to the chest avoiding physical contact with the captains, grab the item and leave

YEah, I finally got to that point Thanks for the reply though. I sort of slacked with updating, but life happens I was just confused with the wording a bit. It all worked out and was a crap ton of fun.
