Training room: screen is load-freezing

Post by Reskal »

Hi,

actually in the training room my toon often freezes for a few minutes, the screen gets white then and the mouse pointer get the circeling round symbol, as when loading. After some time it gets normal again, most of the time.
When i think back this only happens in the training room, any idea how to get rid of this ?

Hey, good thing you posted a message here so it can be resolved. First time i'm hearing about the training room issues, though there are a few spots that are problematic and that I haven't yet been able to resolve.

If you are using razor, try going in without razor first.
What you can also try, is setting the game to run in compatibility mode (Windows XP for example), you can do that by right-clicking the client.exe file -> Properties -> Compatibility tab.
Also worth checking out would be the "Disable visual themes".

If you use razor, make a macro that uses an item or opens a backpack or something. If you're like me, this error usually happens when you all tab or switch windows. Open up your razor window select your macro and hit play. that will bring focus back to the Ultima online window and fix your problem.

What you're describing sounds just like what happened on my wife's laptop, which is a kinda lousy Acer Aspire with shared graphics. I messed with it a bit and discovered that it happened whenever we had some other window over top of the game screen. We connect with Razor and even having the Razor menu over top of the game screen froze it and turned it white. The very easy fix for us was simply to move the Razor window to a blank corner of the screen and avoid moving it or anything else over the game window.

Good luck sir :)

Thanks for all the answers and infos ! I will try the compatibility-thing first.
And yes, its exactly as you say , it appears when i switch to another window, if i just let the client open it doesn't happen.
Problem is i have other things running and managing, like a game or the browser, have to switch sometimes.
Happens on my PC at home and on my notebook at work also, and both are not bad machines.
