Subscribe to a Forum Thread

Is it possible to somehow subscribe to a forum thread, so when it's updated, you get an email or something? I'd like to know when Colibri's announcement thread gets an update, for example.

Open a thread you're interested in and scroll down. At the bottom of the page there's a "Subscribe topic" link. I don't know if it sends an email or just a PM.
