Target next monster macro

I am having trouble setting up a Target Next macro.

What I want to do is round up some lower level monsters like Rat men, etc and instead of having to mouse click my next target, to use a keyboard macro command to target the next monster in the group.

Every time I attempt this with different macro inputs, my character just runs through the crowd of monsters and does not target or attack the next/nearest monster.

What am I doing wrong?

Tried it on Razor also but there are so many target options, I don't know which to choose.

To make it work in razor you need to set 2 hot keys. 1 for Target Closest Non-friendly and 1 for Attack Last Target. Then you can hit record a new macro and hit each of the hot keys to create a single macro. Remove the previous 2 hot keys and assign the key you would like. The macro will look like:

Exec:Target Closest Non-Friendly
Exec:Attack Last Target

On a side note.... Players in angel form around you will mess with your targetting as does EVs and other summons.

Ah, thanks for the info!

Yes this would be a solo hunt type of situation for me. I don't use those types of macros in a party.

I like to round up lower level monsters and fight in groups as I go to and from mining spots. Makes game time a bit more interesting and not just drudgery in crafting. Using an area-effect weapon makes it even more fun.

If they are gathered around you I usually just use an AoE spell like the Holy Light. Or if they are further away Earthquake works too.
