Fire and Cold Resists

I was doing some planning on my gear and I stumble upon this issue. I am most of the time in vampiric embrace form and I noticed that my fire resist and cold resist are at 40, while the other resists are accurate to what my gear resist gives me.

I read from the uo stractics site that casting vampiric embrace will lower your fire resists to -25. I have 51 fire resists from gear,
so shouldn't I still have 26 fire resists left? Cold Resist is at 28 but it only shows my base 40. I mean it's not too much but I just want to make sure it's not a bug.

Any input will be very much appreciated!

If you have 100 magic resist skill your resists will always be 40 or higher. (gear is counted separately and compared to the amount you get from magic resist, the higher is what you have).

Ahhh thanks Adrias so basically it means that since I am at 100 Magic Resists my base of 40 is higher than my gear's 26 (51 - 25 from vampiric embrace)... It makes lots of sense now
