Excelsior

Hey! So... I am literally brand new to the game Ultima Online. Although ive heard of it for many years i never gave it a chance or i was turned off by the graphics. Now though, i want a good mmo with great content that isnt a bore fest with no depth like the new more popular pieces of shit. This has forced me to go back in time when freshness back then, is still fresh today. Sorry for the long post, and i just didnt invest my time into ultima because of the subscription and thought there would be no point in investing time in the free trail. So, sorry if this is a completely inconvenient post but i really appreciate help!

I may start by saying that the content that i have read about in ultima.. is absoloutely glorious. Although the games gfx arent up to date, the abundance of features is just superb and far surpasses most games. But, this is also a downfall for me. I couldnt even answer the facet question ffs lol. I am so overwhelmed by the whole thing that i just cant seem to get into the guts of the game and start playing away. This is why ive made this post, because i really want to play it.

First of all, I downloaded the prepatched client and:

1. The globe isnt spinning, and ive installed the replacement hues file. Some peoples armors and mounts look odd, so i suppose thats something to do with it. Any advancements on that?

2. What about this razor thing? i see the flaws in the whole clicking and skill thing, hotkeys would be great! I went into the razor howto, and done everything it said correctly but how do i open it and configure it? some advice or links to the scripts?

3. My llama also died and i lost the ghost, what about this?

4. Oh! And some lovely person gave me spellcasters keys or something but i cant insure it, even with my 10000 gold i exchanged the ticket for in the bank.

Thats all the problems i cant think of atm but i would really appreciate it if people read all of this, and gave me pointers on where to go first, what to do, and generally some important things that i need to know and that will help me out. Thank you!!

1. dunno my globe doesn't spin either hahaha.
2. razor allows you to 'record' a macro and play it back or loop it. very nice program.
3. proly gone already but there is a pet retrieval stone in brit next to the river and bank. 60k gold it costs.
4. can't insure spell caster keys.

Thanks lol well that guy told me to insure them . How do i start up razor? I buy a new mount? Sorry for the vulgar language

I'm new to Excelsior shard, but I've been playing UO for many many years.

I'm still familiarizing myself with some of the features that Excelsior has to offer, but I've got the basic's down from OSI or what's now owned by EA I suppose. UO takes some getting used to if you're used to these 3d games that are out, but to be honest, I've played a lot of 3d games and I keep coming back to the simple life of 2d UO that's gotta say something for the game.

Define odd. There are thousands of custom colours (world tele > custom > hue room, to check them out) here so many people will look like parrots in all their flashy/strange colouring. But if you installed the hue files correctly everything should be at least coloured. Incorrect install means that some things will just be black. For the globe to spin you need to use the EXPatcher.exe (sorry, can't recall where exactly you get it, definitely on one of the update pages.)

When you start UO with Razor (basically run Razor and input all the data required - shard.uoex.net:60) it minimizes itself into system tray (next to your system clock). Double click to open the window and play around with the stuff on all the tabs. Too many options to list and explain them all.
As for macros (scripts are for EasyUO, a different program) - most you just record yourself. Just record yourself doing an action, add waits where appropriate and loop if necessary. All those covered in the razor tutorial on wiki. If you need help with something more specific - ask here or on global.

It's gone for good then. You can check the noobie donation boxes (in Town Center, take the blue portal south of the red world teleporter) - the pet box is usually empty, but you can sometimes find something usable there. Check out the other boxes as well to get some gear.

You just have to be precise with targetting them. Though just a thought - no need to insure spellcaster's keys if you have nothing in them. You can get empty ones for free from Minoc moongate (they just spawn on the ground around it). And as a noobie you will probably die a few times - insurance can be a major gold siphon for a newbie.

i'm from pre aos too after that i mostly spent my time on sphere 55i or 55a. sometimes i run around playing on pol but not often. seeing that your the same; your going to have the time of your life, because this game is no longer the same osi ultima online. no battle axe of vanq. no vanq gear. good luck and if you have questions type [pm arrow.
