Bee diary
first i wanted to thanks the ppl who shared the info on the bee data topic, it was very helpful, mainly the acc hive count info, which i think its really important and aint on the wiki... just wanna say im doing a diary of my bees from ground zero and it will be up in a lil more then 1 week, covering from the day u build the hives to 1 week of 100k producing, i think its a really complete data and i will post here after its done, if any one has any sugestion of data track im all ear, currently im tracking potion application per hive, hive disposition, water and flower with diagrams, production outcome and giving some personnal conclusion on the data based on the wiki and the info pices on the bee data topic, hope this will help new and old player ^^

heres what i got, hope i helps ^^
24 beehives implanted following the pattern:

All the hives where given heal and strength potion prior to 1st save. When you implement a hive it will get an red X of water and plant until the first save when it will start using the plant and water you set down. I don’t know if the potions will be useful until the first save.
The heal potion was used because every hive start as healthy when you 1st implement it, since the ideal is thriving, and according to Excelsior wiki it takes 1 heal potion application to get to thriving, I used it.
The strength potion was used in order to help prevent diseases, the skull and bacteria icons.
Potion using: Throughout the experiment I will use several potions to achieve maximum production output from my bees. You want to have potion kegs, since its better then have 100 potion bottles, you can craft the kegs, with is too much work and money, or you can buy, I advice the vendor just south from Britain bank, it sells the kegs for 999gp each.
The apiculture part on excelsior wiki is very helpful potion wise so I advise you to read it.
Strength is, in my opinion the potion that I use the most, I apply it every day at least once, even if the hive has no diseases.
Heal is only used, as I say if the hive drops bellow thriving, follow the wiki chart to know how may doses to apply.
Poison is used every time the icon in front of the poison icon is with a yellow, or red, “-“ signal
Cure is used every time the icon in front of the poison icon is with a yellow, or red, “-“ signal
Agility is used only when the hive starts producing and reach 30k bee, after it reaches this stage I apply every day at least once.
Day 1: Bees implanted, server time 22:47, applied strength and heal potion on every one.
I think the save is every hour, so my hives got in the 23:00 save, I check the hives, all are “Colonizing”, some of them have an excess of flower and water, it was expected because of the pattern. None achieved thriving status, what makes me think if the potions applied before the first save had any effect at all.

According to the wiki, the bees have a minimum of 3 titles being the hive position title 0, which I understand as the bee being able to get from 3 titles starting from the one next to it, that means, the following is a valid scenario

Based on that I removed the bottom water and flower, leaving the pattern like that:

Day 2: Brooding. All hives presented excess water. Although it has only 1 water pint, which is the minimum the hives accuse an excess of water, don’t know why it is like that, but it was expected and not a big deal. Without the second flower/water system no hive presents an excess of flowers and as I supposed hives 23 and 24 can access the only flower/water system.
Potions: Hives are in healthy status so all hives got a heal potion and, as always a strength potion.
Poison: 1,3,4,6,9,10,11,12,13,16,17,18,19,21,22,23,24
Cure:2,14,15,17,18,20,24
So I noticed an inversion in the usage of poison and cure what is odd, since excess flower creates infestation, which is fought with poison, and excess water creates disease, which is fought with cure, since no hive has excess flower the infestation amount should be lower and the disease higher, maybe the hives infect each other… who knows. Another point of interest is why I had to apply heal potion again if I applied yesterday. According to Wiki a healthy hive needs 1 heal potion to go to thriving. Maybe they need to start the production, maybe there’s a minimum bee count to reach thriving status or maybe it’s not 100% guarantee, maybe is a probability that involves the hive disease and infection status… again… who knows….
Day 3: brooding. All hives still have an excess of water. Hives status still healthy, maybe the healing potion only start working after production starts, still i Will keep applying heal potions on every hive. Strength potion also applied on all hives

Day 4: Producing. All hives reached the producing stage, all hives have 10k bees. They are all healthy which mean that the healing potion doesn’t wait to the hive to start producing to work, like agility, I will keep applying heal potion on all hives, strength as well, as always. Also, all hives have an excess of water, I expect it to pass around 30k bee.
Poison: 2,3,5,6,9,11,16,20
Cure: 1,5,11,20,21
Wow, look at that, the amount of hives with at least 1 problem dropped in half. Well, I guess that strength really builds up through the time, I’m applying it for 4 days in a row now and it is finally paying off.
Day 5: 1st day of actual production. All hives have the green “+”, I will start tracking this status from now on. As I suspected, heal potion only works after bees have started to produce, so apply it before is a waste… good to know it now.. anyway, all hives are thriving and have 20k bees, they still have excess water, which as I say it’s expected until 30 or 40k and hives are demanding another flower which I added according to the following diagram. I will keep track of daily production, recording amounts and if any one failed to produce. Strength is still being applied to all hives. I can start applying agility since last day, but as wiki says it’s better to start when it reaches 30k I will start it tomorrow.

The amount if hives with any problem decreased from yesterday, there’s a concentration of infection on hives 18+, maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe there’s a elaborated infection mechanism spread.
BTW, I just discovered that the beehive amount is per account so I destroyed the other 6 hives I had at home.
Day 6: Hives reached 30k, will start applying agility potion, 2 units, at the same time, I don’t know if applying together of giving a interval between the application make any difference, by what I read out there I think it does not. Also will apply strength in all of them, just for the sake of it, because I think that strength is the main factor that makes a hive not get infestation or disease.

Today there was more hives with disease/infection then yesterday, but I still think that the strength potion helps a lot in the prevention, just see how many hives Didn’t got any problem.
As I expected the excess of water went away and the hives are at a perfect amount of flower and water, tomorrow I will probably need to add another flower.
Day 7: Bees are asking for more water and flower, so I promptly answered them with 1 more water and flower. 5 hives failed to produced thus leaving a gap in my perfect hive growth =(, aka while all hives are at 40K hive they are at 30K. I will keep the 24 hives until 1 week of 100k, if I think worth I will cut 4 down.

Notice the difference in production from today to yesterday wax, from 1 to 4 and honey from 4 to 12, part is to the fact that the hive increased 10k bees but I think the greatest part was due to the use of 2 agility potions. Also notice the how few hives got any problem, I still think that it’s due to the use of strength potion.
Day 8: Some of the bees that hadn’t evolved/produced yesterday did today, but no hive reached 50k because I’m stupid and forgot to add the flower and water they asked for…
From all the hives that failed to produce and evolve yesterday only n°4 didn’t evolved today thus staying at 30k bee and not producing, again, all the others produced. Even not evolving the hives produced, even more then yesterday.

Agility potions are a flat multiplier to output (+15% each, IIRC), strength is supposed to help hive growth (applies a bonus at the growth check) - from the testing I did way back it does not have any effect on resistance to disease/parasites. At 25 hives it was a flat 50% chance before hive age 100 and 100% (always 1 poison and 1 cure) after that.

yeah, it seamed that the strength helped to prevent diseases and infection but i dont think so, also theres not a spread factor, as a hive will infect the one next to it, the problems are totaly random i guess. one thing that i did discover is tha the heal potion is only usefull after the hive reach production stage, that means that applying heal before 10k is a waste, and the hive didnt even carry the potion when it pass from brooding to producing, total waste... i really proofed the increase in production the double agilit does. now with what u sad bout the str potion, maybe if use double str u can reduce the fail rate, at least until the hive is really old....
