The purpose of this guide is to provide a one-stop shop for answers to all of the most commonly asked questions by players. I will only list questions and their answers if I can link to a highly trustworthy source for the answer or if the answer is well established. My goal is to steer everyone clear of misinformation and right to the verifiable facts. As I think of questions to add, I will update this first post with the new information. If anyone can think of any questions that should be added, please help me out! PM me or post whatever you think I need to add!

Where do I train [random skill]?

How long is it before a house decays/account is purged?

They're wiped manually but those are the timers used for judging whether or not they'll be wiped.

How do I buy Excelsior Dollars (ED)?

Either with gold from other players (type [exex in-game) or with money at http://www.uoex.net/donations

Where can I see what I can buy with ED?

There are several staff assisted services you can purchase with ED listed under this subsection:

http://www.uoex.net/codex/services

And there is a white gate next to Trinsic Bank in Trammel leading to the ED room, which displays items for sale.

Where do I search for player run vendors/items?

How do I kill an umm?

I really wish that all players had to go through the fun of discovering this for themselves but since someone in chat would tell you anyway - they're only hurt by energy damage. Ebolt and Smite are the two most popular energy spells for taking them down. Weapons with Hit Lightning would also damage them.

How can I check my Fame/Karma level?

Say 'I must consider my sins' in-game

I'm killing monsters but I'm not gaining any Karma from them, how can I fix it?

This means your Karma is locked. You either intentionally locked it at an ankh or something in-game made it happen accidentally. Go to an ankh (there's one just northwest of West Britain Bank in Trammel) and single left-click it. Choose 'Unlock Karma'.

What effect does luck have on [random event]?

http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7940

If you're going to read the thread, read it thoroughly - otherwise you'll still have questions but it'll only be because you skipped something. There's a lot of discussion there including an indisputable statement about luck from one of the Excelsior staff.
