Excelsior Training Acedemy - Your help is needed!
Posted: Fri Jul 18, 2014 1:55 pm
Soon we will be opening the Excelsior Training Academy. Our goal is to help new players during their first 3 months. Once they have reached 3 months with the guild, they will graduate and move on to other guilds or strike out on their own. We hope some of these players will return as volunteers in the future. For any who wish to stay on, they will have to commit to dedicating a lot of their time to the guild. Let's make excelsior the best experience possible for our new players!
The following is the aid we will offer:
1. Access to books and specialist for skill training.
2. Advisers to answer questions.
3. Guidance on Stat goals & training
4. Training on fighting skills & locations.
5. Taking them hunting to safe locations a few days a week.
5. Teaching them how to make money in the early days.
6. Giving them a place to make friends, meet hunting partners and the
opportunity to spend time with some of the wonderful players on our shard.
7. Reinforcement of Codex - Teaching them to be courteous to others in their game play.
This will be provided to new players: These items, cash & some ED were donated by Elsimore (special thanks-for a nice financial contribution), Lestat Zero (we are lucky to have her on our shard!), Sufferance and Tredin. We could still use help on skills books if anyone is game!
1. A suit of leather armor - right now I would like to use the 4 pc set found at the citadel, but may have to resort to making some. It's what I used when I started and it served me well for some time.
2. Regent Keys - To avoid hurting the economy, I will try to buy supplies from other players whenever possible.
3. A shovel - Probably with 1000 uses.
4. Tinkering tool - with 500 uses.
5. Rune book - again whenever possible, these will be purchased from other players, so it will not impact the shard economy. Included will be a rune to the guild & a few to safe mining areas.
6. Full spell book - whenever possible, these will be purchased from other players, so it will not impact the shard economy.
7. Bows - each player will receive a "beginning bow". This will get them through the early days, but is not intended to be a keeper.
8. Access to books on a wide range of topics - this is one of the items that I would like help with. They should instruct the new player on the best possible approach to gaining skills & any 3rd party programs that could help with this process.
9. A cloak with colors identifying them as a member of the guild.
Right now, that is the list. While we would love donations of some of rune & spell books, we have to be careful not to make it difficult for newer players to make money selling these items. So, we will purchase these whenever possible going forward.
What we do need is the following: The faster we get these, the faster we can open.
1. Books - on training skills & stats. There will be a sign up sheet, so pm me for a list of needed books. I'd like to spread the burden around, so the more volunteers, the better! You should be knowledgeable on the fastest way to gain a skill, resources that will be needed & know some 3rd party programs that can assist in this process. We only need 1 copy of the book. Please put your name in any book you submit. Books may be edited to incorporate additional information and/or edit existing information.
2. Volunteers - I can't do it all myself, so I will be looking for volunteers to help answer questions & take our young recruits on hunting expeditions. I was thinking of asking for a 3 month commitment, but would like feedback on that from some of our older players. If you volunteer to take them hunting (one trip per volunteer a week), you must find someone else to cover for you if you can't be available on your assigned day. It will be chance for you to get to know some players that you might want to add to your guild in the future.
3. Gates - We have a gate section to guilds so I our new players can explore some of the guilds we offer. PM me if you would like your guild to be added.
Books needed: The list will be updated as each book has been completed. PM me to reserve one or more skills.
