PvP Guild

Post by BlaZe »

Since Karma's notion of the idea, I've been brainstorming some thoughts of my own on the concept. How to make PvP actually enjoyable to the people who don't care for it, and how to make it balanced for those who don't do it often enough.

I recently made some finishing touches on the in-game book about the PvP Guild, here is the wording:
For those of you already thinking it: NO, this isn't a guild where you can join in and randomly PK other members. This guild is only open to those who are dedicated to PvP for sport, not griefing. There are plenty of ways for PvP to be fun, but unfortunately its always the bad apples that ruin it for everyone else. I am referring to those who PvP/PK just to display dominance, who seem to think its only fun if they're fighting on uneven terms or causing some sort of grief that displays a total lack of sportsmanship. Those who feel they do such should need not continue reading.

Now since completely open PvP would get pretty ugly, all of our Events are held in Game Houses owned by Guildmembers. Each House has its own set of Game Rules, which all players must adhere to if they wish to participate in the Game. Anyone blatantly refusing to follow said rules will be ejected from the Game and possibly the Guild as well.

+++++Guild Rules+++++

1. Absolutely NO fighting outside of Game Houses. It is against Shard Rules as well so if you are caught breaking it, expect to be permanently banned from the guild.

2. NO looting another player's corpse(s), unless it is explicitly said in a Game House Rulebook or by that player. This also applies to Stealing from another member.

3. Always use good sportsmanship. We are all here to have a good time and if you are doing anything that other players deem unfair or inappropriate, you will likely get booted.

4. Only Alt(ernate) characters are granted membership. Game House Rules require you to use equipment provided by the House, so it isn't needed for you to be wearing your best gear.

5. Have fun! Everyone likes a little friendly competition, which is what we aim to provide. If you can't take a kill without being upset or kill another without talking smack, this isn't for you.

Anyone who cannot follow said rules doesn't have a place in the PvP Guild. They are simple, direct and not hard at all to follow. If you feel a rule should be modified or added feel free to [pm.

Some Game Houses or Events will be limited to a 'weight class'. This is determined by how high your skills or stats are.

+++Combat Skills+++
Anatomy, Archery, Fencing, Lumberjacking,
Mace Fighting, Parrying, Swordsmanship,
Tactics, Wrestling, Resisting Spells

+++Combat Support+++
Bushido, Chivalry, Focus,
Healing, Ninjitsu, Poisoning

+++Rogue Skills+++
Detect Hidden, Hiding, Stealth,
Snooping, Stealing, Tracking

+++Casting Skills+++
Animal Lore, Magery, Necromancy

+++Casting Support+++
Alchemy, Evaluating Intelligence,
Inscription, Meditation, Spirit Speak

Featherweight Requirements
- 5 Combat/Support Skills at 100
- 1 Caster Skill at 100
- 1 Caster Support Skill at 100
- 1 Rogue Skill at 100
- Total stats under 100

Lightweight Requirements
- 9 Combat/Support Skills at 100
- 2 Caster Skills at 100
- 2 Caster Support Skills at 100
- 2 Rogue Skills at 100
- Total stats under 200

Middleweight Requirements
- 13 Combat/Support Skills at 100
- 5 Caster/Support Skills at 100
- 3 Rogue Skills at 100
- Total stats at or under 300

Heavyweight Requirements
- 15 Combat/Support Skills at 100+
- 7 Caster/Support Skills at 100+
- 4 Rogue Skills at 100
- Total stats at or under 300

Super-Heavyweight Requirements
- 7 Combat/Support Skills at 110+
- 3 Combat/Support Skills at 120+
- 5 Caster/Support Skills at 110+
- 1 Caster Skill at 120

Members wanting to be put in a Weight Class should have their total stats and skill levels listed in their profile. Otherwise their character will not be able to enter Classed Events.
Before a player is allowed into the PvP Guild they will have to 'sign' their name in a book stating that they understand all of the rules before them and that they agree to not bring any disputes into global chat or before any staffers.

I believe that if we can get PvP in a controlled environment, more people will be apt to enjoy it. Such an environment will allow us to play games like Capture the Flag, Defend the Base, King of the Hill and Steal the Bacon (to name a few) without worrying about the sinister side of human nature.

Get working on that Alt character and send a [pm to Kittie when you feel you're ready to join. All Events are going to be on hold, however, until I get a sanction from an Admin (or two :P).

Edit: Alternative (and much more interesting) Weight Class system

Ive been in [PvP], and can't wait for a few more people. (And a Sanction)
This will be a good way to re-introduce PvP to people.

Apparently when one 'bumps' a thread, it re-posts the last reply that was made. :roll: Sorry for the confusion hehe.
