Re: Champ Spawns Suggestions
Aye, there are quite a few "lucrative" methods of obtaining gold.. but champs drop powerscrolls, which sell like hotcakes on a daily basis. I never actually said that the people who camp the spawns become rich.. I said those who are rich, tend to camp the spawns.

Re: Champ Spawns Suggestions
I would like to suggest some Tramel champ spawns that are limited to 115 scrolls and lower with only 1 scroll per player upto say 8 people at the spawn each getting a scroll. Or say smaller champ spawns/peerless that only drop say 105 or 110 scrolls/a minor arty of some type. Or for that matter champ spawns that drop entirely diffrent items from what we get now.

Thanks all for the feedback!
BTW for anybody interested I would suggest to watch Blood Diamonds currently on the History Channel for a little insight into the current PS market.
Do the math... there are 12 champ spawns in Felucca. (11 if you don't count the noob MOA but let's be honest what does it take to start a new character and farm the noob spawn just for "fun"). Each spawn has approx. a 6 hour timer. (Somebody please correct me if wrong, remember I've never actually done a champ
) Each champ yields 6 PS. So that's 288 PS per day.
That's a lot of PS!
Way more than I see showing up on the vendors. So naturally that would lead me to believe that there are treasure troves of PS sitting in chests not for sale because the few who control the PS supply are worried that "flooding the market" would bring the price down "too low". In actuality, it would bring the price down to fair market value. Sorry Rhodses and Oppenheimers of UO you will have to contribute something of real value from now on.
See the problem is that just like a diamond, a PS is forever. Here's a potential solution: put a decay timer on PS. If they don't get used within, say, 72 hours they go POOF! No more stockpiling in order to artificially suppress the supply.
As for demand. . I don't see why it should really be all that high. A motivated player should be able to acquire all desired PS within the first 6 - 8 weeks of gameplay. Maybe 12 if you're lazy. And since they are a "use once never use again" type of item why should they be in such high demand anyway? If peeps would like to increase REAL demand, they can always go stalk some other UO forums and talk up Excelsior so as to recruit new players who will be more than happy to purchase their scrolls.
@ those who commented that there are many other more lucrative ways to make money. I couldn't agree more! Exactly why there should be no reason to whine when the price comes down to about 25-50K...
I hear that Beekeeping is a great way to rake in the gold for those that have a lot of free time on their hands and like to do the same thing over and over again.
IMO a *true* vet is one who strives to know all the ins and outs of the game (whether or not it is a lucrative effort) and then helps others to learn the game. Thus their respect is earned. People who get off on exploiting the good intentions of the programmers in order to make life harder for their fellow players do not deserve the respect that they demand, and should be nerfed at every opportunity.

That math would be great if all the PS that dropped were 120s. Unfortunately, the majority of the PS obtained from champs are 110s with a few 115s and occasionally a 120. I have a PS book with around 250 PS in it, but very few of the 120s I possess are marketable. The high demand scrolls like taming, archery, etc are sold as soon as they are obtained. PS like fishing, cooking, etc can't hardly be given away, much less sold for anything. When was the last time you saw anyone spawn for days searching for 120 fishing like you might see for taming? If the PS were being stockpiled to limit the availabilty of them, then you would see much higher prices like they were about 1 year ago. You can currently purchase a 120 taming for around 500k where as it used to bring in 1 mil or higher.

Re: Champ Spawns Suggestions
Thanks for the correction! Though it was my understanding that there are a couple of people who have the ability to upgrade PS. Also keep in mind that you may not be stockpiling PS but others may be. Others may actually be buying your PS in order to drive up the cost of their own. Don't put it past people! Of course I may be totally wrong...Calan Caitin wrote:That math would be great if all the PS that dropped were 120s. Anyhow I have gotten a little OT as my complaint really isn't that PS are too expensive. My complaint is that I would rather get my own PS than buy them off of somebody else. The price of PS is only a secondary issue in that if they didn't fetch such a hefty sum then there wouldn't be as much of a draw for folks to hog them all.
