Missing Items

Post by Athena »

Has anyone else but me been loosing items that were (locked down) or in a chest. Or in your bags even. In the past few weeks I have lost 104 ed'z, some bod deeds, and a royal hive robe. The Bods were lost in a locked down and secured bag....the ed'z were lost on a table that i had locked them down on. And the royal hive robe disapeared in my bags within about 2 secs of me taking it off and then trying to put it back on. Was just curious if anyone else had experienced this?

And I already know what some of you are thinking, Are you sure you locked it down?? Yes because about 3 other people saw the ed'z locked down about 10 mins before they disapeared. As did I.

Have you checked the level of security of your bag? Is it set to owner only, co owner, friend or anyone?

I lost a picky beetle about 2 weeks about. It was dyed and renamed. I always keep it in a blessed bag in my backpack when I'm not collecting gold with it. I didn't page or do anything because they say items don't just disappear. I checked all my chests and bank 3 times over before i bought another one. I don't see myself just leaving it out to go wild somewhere, but i suppose its possible.

I lost some stuff that was secured and locked also, I just got the response it was my fault because I didn't lock it down, when I know for a fact they was.

Out of curiosity are your houses joint together? I noticed it was after my houses were joint that I had a few items go missing...

and I've noticed my houses always play up with locking stuff down, i.e. I can lock something down at times then I'd go to unlock it and says "This isn't locked down" But it's non movable, And same in some ocassions with trying to lock stuff down, it's in the middle of my house I'm standing next to it "I wish to secure this" but says that it can't be locked blah blah....

Just thinking maybe there is a conection between this with items going missing as I've had a few people in game tell me about how they have had items go missing too.

But I can understand it from staff saying what they do because of how many times they prob get told a player lost something valuable and blaming a glitch trying to get stuff etc... But surely this needs looking at if it's happening to a lot of people...

Check your co-owner list on the house. Then check security of the container(s) in question. Someone once told me in game that a chest was marked for a "friend" in a public house, only to have stuff disappear forever, i.e. stolen.

EDs are safer in your bank, along with any other valuables. I keep all EDs, elven notes, oints in the bank.

If something "disappears" as soon as you lay it down, that's when control-shift comes in handy. Some times items will "disappear" in packs but that might be due to temp lag. Just like lag will keep names of items from appearing properly, especially in Town Center. That place I try to avoid as much as possible due to all the labels of stuff that take time to load. All of a sudden slum gum has the name of dates, or plant seeds become fishing weights, etc.

I tend to "lose" empty bottles. Don't understand exactly why it happens, but once in a while I will use 40-50 bottles in my method for bee and plant tending. Once all potions have been applied, empty bottle recount adds up to 2-3 missing. Happened twice within the past month. *shrugs*
"This isn't locked down" But it's non movable, And same in some occasions with trying to lock stuff down, it's in the middle of my house I'm standing next to it "I wish to secure this" but says that it can't be locked blah blah....
The only problem with GM-joined houses is your character has to be physically on the same side as the item you're locking down. Crank up your transparency circle all the way and you will notice the house foundation boundaries much better in the front, near the house signs.

Even one little tile off will give you those errors when placing, securing and locking down. It's easy in a GM-joined house to believe it's all one house and make a mistake. But technically it's still two houses, marked by a noticeable boundary if you look at it through 100 transparency circle. It's appearance of being "one" house is an illusion. Therefore any house commands will work ONLY if the character is in the same "house" where the command is used. To our eyes it's one house, but to the program, it's two and will behave as such.

As you can't seem to tell really by the picture I am if the same house as the locked down item, I logged back on to see if the item can be unlocked, low and behold I can unlock it now, I also have some trouble with addons ATM I can't redeed two addons, But I'm sure after a while it will be able to redeed them. (maybe its because there close to the joints of the house)

A co-owner can't unlock a secure box I was told and all my boxes are always set to owner, and one day I had two boxes of valuable items go missing and they were stacked on the same tile, never had any problems from them being there before either.

I can't keep everything in my bank although I do keep note/ED/Gold there.

Maybe it's because these are placed on terrains that are not level and that have objects sticking up that they might somehow be interfering with the foundation of the house?

I don't know, I don't care about getting my stuff back either.

To the items missing in linked houses. If you stand in house a and try to lock something down in house b it will not do it.

I from time to time have a problem an usually mark it up to it getting misplaced from moving things around, however I did once have a beehive go missing. No reset or anything occured that day.

Yea i don't have linked houses :P I have 2 separate houses. So I don't think that's what hapend. As for the lag with items in my pack, well it wasn't a lag because I had logged out and back in after searching and well it never apeared. I have had stuff disapear on the floor too, Ive accedently dropped it from my bags, and when I go to control shift its no where to be found. I've stopped reporting this issues because I always get the same response 100ed'z to recover the item. and "things don't just disapear" Was hoping to get see if this is happening to a lot of people so maybe they will look more into this issue.

Oh and about the level of security, well the only co-owners to the house are my b/f and a friend from real life, and a trusted guildie (who wasn't even online at the time) and they would have no reason to take the items.

I've actually lost some things that were in my bless bag. I lost 4 of my maxed nobles that were shrunken and placed inside of my bless bag. Don't know how or why they disappeared, rather weird. This was recently, within the past week or so.

yea now does that seem right to have to pay to recover items that were lost by the game....doesn't seem fair at all to me.especially to those who cant afford it....

I understand that it takes time and concentration for the gm, but it does happen and people spend alot of time to aquire these items...and well i guess in my opinion if im gonna spend the time to get the items just to have them lost...then why play at all.

Ceara beat me to it.

The locking down of items when you have joined houses is tricky. It's even worse if you place a deeded furniture item, because even if you're in the same house as it sometimes it will think it is in the other house. What I mean is, if you have say a stone table on the boundary of your two joined houses, you sometimes can't chop it from EITHER house. Sucks, but you learn to deal with it and the locking down items issue in order to have a cool house :)

Basically if you're having trouble locking down or unlocking an item, try moving around a bit. That always solves the problem.

I have also lost items before by thinking I locked something down that was on the border of my house and then missing the "You cannot lock this down here" or whatever message. For the record I have never actually lost an item by some fluke of the server - every time it was either me misplacing it somewhere and then later finding it, or me failing to lock something down for the above mentioned reason. :)
