Bee-friendly flowers

Hello everyone! This is my first posting on uoex, i am Xab - the merchant of Harpers guild.
Hereis my question that bothers me often...

What types of plants are bee friendly?

As for my research - i have found some codes that check "flowers", "poppies" and "snowdrops" in plant name as bee-friendly. But we are using all same "decorative plants", and that brings a mess in my dumb head...

I've checked some vendors and discovered that my research is almost correct: everyone sell poppies, snowdrops and champion flowers. But some also sell LILIES! I have spoken with Felli who sells lilies at TC, and he\she told me that yes lilies are 100% bee friendly. Then i took my own grown brown (not rare) lilies and put it near fresh colonizing beehive. I was waiting for 2 days, poured all needed pots in a hive but it havent accepted those lilies as bee friendly.

The other issue is about rare mutated types of plants, and if these are bee-friendly?

So as a merchant who has a large plantation and will to grow bee friendly flowers, i am asking you all who know the truth - please post the correct entire list of bee-friendly flowers here.

I don't think it matters as long as you use decorative plants, no more than two per hive. My hives are over 400 days old and they're not fussy at all. I use random plants, and at least half are not flowers.

Also it takes four days for hives to produce the first honey and wax.

Bees need pollen and nectar.

The Wiki states

Make a note that the bees can use decorative flowers, which will be much easier on your potion supply. As long as it blooms, they can collect nectar.

Snowdrops

There are no "brown" flowers. You're seeing the plain Orange color.

They come in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. Also "Bright" in all the rainbow colors except the Rares. Rare colors include Aqua, Magenta, Fire and Pink. No Rare plants can generate seeds or be used in cross pollination. They are a one-time grow, set as Decorative at day 9, same as Bonsai. But all the plain rainbow and Bright colors can generate seeds and be cross pollinated.

An exception to the rule is the Black and White mutation that randomly occur when cross pollinating plants. There are hardly any mutation plants available in game. I have 8 Bulrush black mutation seeds, but no others. Shaarlee has a lot of white mutations, but I don't think she's going to sell any of those because they are so rare right now. Not impossible, but rare, because hardly anyone bothers to grow plants.

I don't think you're going to have much luck raising bees on tribarrel cactus, or single barrel cactus.

Decorative plants are named appropriately because they aren't "growing" any more. Their growth cycle is complete. None of the grown flowers will retain their names after being set as Decorative.

Plants take a while to grow. Minimally, 9 days from the time of seed sowing to the 9th day when you can set the plant as Decorative and no longer have to put potions/water on it. If the gardener wants all seeds available from the plant, that's another 8 days.

Thx for the work on the previous post, and the info on mutations and plantgrownig, but...

the question was about the list of bee-friendly flowers. We need a code here. Please

Yeah lilies were not brow, they were yellow, but looked like brown..

That is actually a great question and is being asked alot lately.
I looked into some beekeeping scripts and this is what I found out.

Any item with "flower", "poppie", or "snowdrop" in the itemdata name will count. I will give a full list of those flowers tonight if I get a chance. =]


Remember that colibri may have done something different with his. So this may not be 100% here but I am pretty sure it's the same.

I noticed the same, I am not home ATM to look at the entire scripts, I was just lucky enough to pull up the beekeeping script on my iPhone.

In the item lilies, it may actually be lilieflower and item name lilies.
In the script if the entire thing just says lilieflower or something like that it would be good evidence that is doing it.
The reason that it would not be showing lilieflower, would kinda be
The same was deeds are. In the script its like as example "bedeastdeed" but when the deed is created it's called "bed (east) deed"
It's kinda hard to explain that.. But there is a few people I am sure know what I mean. =p

But I will look late tonight or tomorrow and tell you if I am correct or not, and if I am not I will look deeper into it and see what it is that makes it work.

Then again colibri may have juggled with it a little.
But my guess is that he didn't.

Well, this calls for a little experiment. I started a single hive in my spare house with a tribarrel cactus and a snake plant. Right now I have the two red "X"es, and I'm curious to see what will happen when it resets.

But like I say, I have 24 hives that are 439 days old, and they're not very fussy. They're always thriving, except of course when I miss a reset. I use a hodgepodge of plant types, the criterion being to create a decorative pattern. I always assumed that people chose the flowering plants because that's what makes sense in real life -- but real life has nothing to do with it; it matters how it's coded. Now that I know the generic code distinguishes between plants, I'll test it to see if Coli left it that way.

Still, it's not that critical exactly what you use. That's the point I was trying to make.

From everything I have seen all the underlined should work....

There is nothing in the code "that I have seen" that shows lilies work.

There is 2 things that may be going on now.

1. Colibri may of had the following added to the code.

That would of allowed Lilies to be accepted.

OR....

2. Lilies do not work. People may have other plants close enough and the bee's are actually going after them.
I honestly think its this one for two reasons.

First, I don't see colibri changing that code just to allow Lilies to be accepted....
Second, Look what was said.

I was waiting for 2 days, poured all needed pots in a hive but it havent accepted those lilies as bee friendly.

But to also note this is actually the first time I ever looked at the decorative flower script.

Very interesting Cyrddin

I know last week folks were asking in the general chat if yard wand flowers worked for bees. Wondering if the list you provided proves or disproves that theory.

Here is some interesting thoughts.

I think the beehives CAN go off flowers that are naturally on the ground. So.... If your house was placed on top of flowers that are on the list the just by luck placed a hive where the flowers were before you placed the house it should work. Also if you have flowers on the side of your house that was already there then your hive if close enough could be going off that.

Next for the Wand... I don't think so.

One reason... Look at the name...
Yard decoration, or whatever it's called.
However it is vary hard to know inless I look at the yard wand script.

But if by chance whoever scripted the yard wand should of thought about it and I bet they did.

If they do work it needs to be fixed to keep the interest for the people who grow the plants.

Yard flowers do work for bees... its been done, and no probs with it... Me personally, i dont use the wand, because i got 100s of bee flowers...
