Noob Question

Post by CONVICTED FELON »

Hello everyone. I have been playing this shard for about 3 days now. I have gotten good skill gains via training room and doing rat quest to make some gold. I have several skills at 100 and my strength has gained well. The problem I am having is gaining INT and DEX. I have gm med, eval, and animal lore (which on most shards I have played you gain INT while doing those skills) but my INT has only went up 15 points. I have gm Tactics, fencing and swords is over 75. On most shards I have played those are skills that gain DEX, but my DEX has only went up 10 points. I do not have enough mana to cast the spells I need to cast to raise my magery above 80. What can I do to gain INT and DEX? Years ago we use to toggle item id and arms lore up and down 10 points to raise stats but with no skill cap you can not do that here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

My suggestion is work some skills that will gain you INT or DEX...Thats what i did...No need to make multiple chars in my eyes to give certain chars different skills...You can GM and beyond with just having 1 char..Not saying you cant make another char or 2 if you wanna...There is a list of what skills will gain what in the wiki, just take a look and see what you wanna do..Hope that might help some.
After everything i've been threw, i'm still smiling...Not because i'm strong...But because i'm crazy!
Now that should scare you.....

Gaining stats is definitely the slow part of character development. Two things to keep in mind:

1. You're allowed to macro AFK for training as long as you're not gathering resources or otherwise farming gold.

2. Even when you've maxed to your cap in a skill, you can still gain stats from using it as long as that skill isn't locked.

I have gm Med, Eval, Animal Lore, 80+ Magery, and 75 plus SS and have only gained 17 points of INT. I went from 0-75 SS and only gained 2 points INT. I have never played a shard free or OSI where stat gains were that slow. Is this the norm here.

macro music, peacemaking both work on dex and intel. good luck... also it's like 1 point of stats per 15 mins. yes it's slow.

You've been here 3 days, gained all that and call it slow?

Would have taken much longer on the original UO.

fyi stat gains are once per 15 minutes at most, so best to just afk something over night for a couple gains. You can also buy stat essences for +1 stats

also you can get a spell channeling mage weapon to continue training magery

Thanks to all I did not know stat gains were so slow. That is actually a little crazy considering how easy it is to gain skills but anyway.

To Ceara: I was not saying skill gains are slow, only that stat gains are slower than any shard I have ever played. And Fyi in 3 days on OSi I could of had Magery, Med, Eval, and resist GM or higher thanks to our good friends at easy uo.
