My take on Titan's Guardians

I wanted to discuss my concerns about the new changes to Doom to prevent people camping the Titan's Hammer. I admit that there were times when I was doing other things around the house so I would just recall there and hide and check my computer screen every now and then so I can see why a change was needed. However, I think the current change is poorly setup and greatly favors older players. This is because the monsters are pretty strong. I was there while whoever (mocha/chaos?) was setting it up and killing them pretty easily until they added the golem's colossal blow to them (btw thanks for the res :) ){they have MS now too I noticed}. I did not think that was much of a problem before because they were basically devourers. Now, however, a newer player will probably not be able to kill them and won't be able to get the hammer (unless they do my third issue down below).

A second issue is a possible griefing angle. Let's say someone goes to check on the hammer. OH THERE IT IS! so you run up but you get attacked by the 3 guardians. Now you are getting chased by them and have to kill them. In comes random player and just walks up to the table and steals it.

A third issue is just spawning them, running them away (like people do at umbris), then running back to check the table which pretty much just makes them ineffectual.

I think a better solution would be twofold:
1) remove the ability to recall into doom. This prevents people from just marking a rune right next to it.
2) make a system like the oaks skull of enlightenment. Have say 3 (or more) different spawn points but the hammer only spawns in one of the spots each time. Make the spawns in locations where you cannot recall into or log out next to (similar to how you can't mark in fel or log out characters to watch locations).

Maybe make the guardians spawn when the hammer is stolen? Something like the spawn in the lamp room if you open the chest on the table? No hiding since you used a skill in the previous 10 sec (stealing) so no grab it and hide. ;) On the plus side if they loot then you might get one from killing the guardians..

They just spawn every couple minutes if you are close enough to the table

FYI,

Currently, they despawn/respawn every 10 minutes after their last triggered spawn. This is to counteract the leading away and getting them trapped tactic. Also, I changed them so they walk slower than a Devourer and do not use any ranged attacks. So, if the case is that a younger player comes in and sees the hammer, they will walk in and trigger the spawn. They have about 4-6 seconds before they aggro them, and when they do the player can either fight them or lure them away far enough to run in and steal the hammer.

I know, I know. "Well if they can do that, why even have the monsters?!?" Well, the monsters don't have to be fast or cast spells to pose a threat to afk hammer watchers running a stealing script. ;)

Thanks Vert, I'm not into Stealing, but this business of AFK hammer stealing is very dirty gameplay.

Personally I love the idea. I went roaming in there with my normal paying half attention to the fight while coding on another monitor and seen that black screen and was like... wow! The bad thing about this is I now have less pity for people begging for a res in doom because the walk isn't that bad.

I think I like the idea of having the hammer spawn in several different possible locations and then add the Titan Guardians to each location. This is one of the most valued items in our little world here and the challenge should be cranked up a few notches.

I love the idea to rotate the spawn for the hammer also, just to make it interesting.

About the afk stealers, that doesn't make sense to me. shouldn't they be jailed, then banned for "When performing the following activities, you must not be away from keyboard.......or anything else that gains profit." Seems pretty clear it is against the rules to me.
