how to kill onyx dragon using pets?

i took on a onyx dragon with my mules.
he was taking them down so fast that my CS healing spell couldn't heal them fast enough.
then 2 black liches showed up.
before i new it, all 5 mules were dead.

do the onyx dragons spawn black liches when they fight?
i swear that there was no liches around when i first started fighting the dragon.

what techinque do you use to fight the onyx dragon with pets without getting all of your pets killed?

I would say get yourself a bio, i know some mobs can only be taken down by teams or having a bio tank em.
How high is your vet, i am not sure if vet heals pet more and faster than cs healing spells!

i have gm vet, but cs heal is supposed to heal more points than bandages.
do they?
i thought about using bandages and CS but you can't run (or i don't know how) to run two macros at the same time.

Depending on how good your mules strength, hit points and resists are, 5 mules should take the dragon down with the tank taking some damage but able to survive with your healing. If you need to, get behind the tank and add aids to go along with your CS spell. For stress free fighting, I go into that area a little at a time and pick off the vampires a little at a time. You should never go barging into that area until you know where the Onyx Dragon and the liches are unless you have attained the ultimate "Uber" status. I haven't so I take that area in steps. After killing off an area, i tell my mules to stay then stealth ahead to see what lies ahead. When I find the next target, I draw them to my mules instead of having the mules go to them. Fight them on your terms, not theirs. It sounds like you didn't get a chance to go through the whole area as what else to expect in that place are 2 Shadow Wyrms and the Black Lich Lord who is equivalent to the Dark Father in Doom. He is usually towards the back and you want to fight him isolated as he does spawn help just like in Doom. That area is a nice challenge even for veterans and even the best laid plans can go wrong there, but it is a good place for gold so it is worth going back again. Make sure your pets physical and fire resists are maxed and they should fare well as long as they don't have to take on too much at once. Give it another shot and let us know how it went. If you want, PM me in game and I'l show you how I do it. Oh ya, it is always better to fight in there with help, the more the merrier.

Oh ya, I forgot to add that those 2 Black Liches are their own spawn. It was your unfortunate luck to have them wander by as you were fighting the Dragon. Also, expect to run across Ancient Vampires and paragon vampires both regular and ancient in the beginning but all should be no match for your mules, especially if they all attack the same target and don't go off on their own.

you are right,
i didn't clean everything out first.
when my mules started dieing so fist, i realized that there was a black lich (if not two) on them as well as the onyx dragon.

next time i will do as you said.
stealth in and pull stuff out one at a time.
after i resed all of my mules, i went after the black lich and took him out. but i thought there was two.
question, is there a black lich as well as a black lich lord? or is there only the black lich lord?
the stupid part is i forgot i could just recall out and save my mules from death.

There should be 2 Black Liches and 1 Black Lich Lord, 2 Shadow Wyrms, 1Onyx Dragon, 1Onyx Drake (easy) and numerous vampires as stated earlier, unless someone had already been in there earlier which is not uncommon.

i only saw (and kill them because they helped kill my pets) black liches. they were bad enough.

so you say that my 5 mules (they all have 75 resist accept for one the got a stat loss when i resed him).
can take out the black lich lord and the onyx dragon? (separately of course)

they all have 1000 str and hit points

If you have ever fought the Dark Father in Doom then that is what you should expect with the Black Lich Lord. If you haven't then you need to know that he will spawn regular Lich Lords, Rotting Corpses, Zombies, Liches, Spectres, etc.. to help him which could and will distract your pets. These spawns will interrupt for CS healing as well, so it can be very chaotic. I would not attempt to go after him solo until you have faced him a few times so you can gauge what you can or cannot do. If you can manage it, using Banish Evil can help get rid of the Lich Lords and Rotting Corpses so your pets can concentrate on the Black Lich Lord but it will still be a challenge for you. For some reason, I have trouble soloing the Black Lich Lord but seem to manage alright with the Dark Father in Doom solo, not sure why.

sounds like the black lich lord is best taken on by two tamers.
one to fight the black lich lord and one to take out the spawn.

sounds like a fun fight (with two).
it is not something i want to take on myself.
