I'm new, hello everyone.

Hi there.

I'm a gal from Germany who played UO on freeshards in the past for about five years or so. But this past is almost ten years ago. By now, I think I forgot a lot of things and while reading the shard's wiki, I even read about features which are completely new to me. So if I do anything wrong, please don't be harsh to me.

My former characters were mages and warriors. On one server, I also had a couple of craftsmen characters because more than one character was allowed.

Besides from this, I cannot be online on a regular basis. I work part-time but from my own office, so sometimes I'm going to be online while being at work at the same time. While my mother-tongue is German, I remember I was pretty good at school in English. Just for you to keep in mind that maybe I will not make myself clear every time.

Alright, I just downloaded the client, UO Automap and Razor. Will try to get things started later.

And if anyone can provide me with some beginner tips - please do so! Every help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to Excelsior! Marion... I am pretty sure that you will love this place. One of the great feature that you will see is that one character can be all-in-one (that is if you don't like to switch characters). So that means that you can be a mage, warrior, crafter, tamer, ninja, etc with one character. There are always lots of things to do in Excelsior.

As Gwen mentioned above make sure you read Devlin's how to be awesome guide and the forum has a lot of good information. And if doubt don't be afraid to ask in public channel in game by using this command [c **text here** most players are nice .

I just started playing this morning and I must admit - after ten years being absent from UO I am really overwhelmed from all the new features. The time I played, there hasn't been any LMC or LRC armors and everything else. Anyway, the game still looks as addicting as it was ten years ago.

i know right. i started in 1997 then quit for awhile in 2003 came back and everything changed. no more vanq weapons but weapons with stats, and you can level them. :O

In the 1990's, I remember one of my favourite PC games was Ultima 7, Part I and II and each w/addons. That's how I got to the Ultima Series.

I guess I can add onto Marion's topic. I just found this shard from doing a Google search. I, too, used to play UO Renaissance years ago and loved it very much. I had tons of gold, my own house and boat. It was awesome. But, since it's been so long ago that coming back to UO is so foreign to me. I did try out a couple of other free shards (ie. Second Age, etc...) but either they are PvP or they are ghost towns. I did run into a very nice person last night (I wish I could remember his name) that talked to me and gave me a little bit of advice (guess he saw my [young] status) LOL.

Anyway, I think I'm going to make my home here on Excelsior. Seems to be some friendly people and not a sole PvP shard. The only disappointment I have found is that it doesn't spawn reagents anywhere and that you have to buy them (quite expensive mind you) from that stone in Trinsic. I remember years ago just how relaxing it could be just roaming around the world and collecting hundreds of reagents.

Welcome To Excelsior Aaen.
A good spot to farm regs is where one would farm keys to spawn Travesty. Not too difficult, but not too easy. Lots of regs to score.
Go to Public Moongate: Minoc and look around on the ground for Spellcaster Keys to hold your regs without weight. The keys will allow you to cast from the keys, but for alchemy and inscription you will need to take them off the keys to train/craft.
