Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
the rule is if you have not done damage on a monster the kill is not yours, unless your waiting for a single spawn.
senerio:
joe smoe was sitting at doom waiting on liches to respawn in the 3 liche room in the northern corner. joe smoe hits one of the liches, and then jane smoe tele's in and kills the liche joe smoe did damage. <----kill steal
Joe was sitting at the same liche spawn with a AOE weapon and hits one of the liches. all three were damaged. Jane tele's in and kills on of the liches (doesn't matter which). <----kill steal.
Joe smoe was sitting at the same spawn and was attacking 1 liche, and then jane tele's in and kills the liche joe has not done damage too yet....<---not kill stealing
Jane was at lady mel's and was waiting patiently for her turn, and mel shows up, wich jane immediately does damage. joe runs up and kills lady mel cause jane died. <----kill steal
Jane was at lady mel's and was waiting patiently for her turn, the tree dude shows up and because lady mel hasn't shown up and no one else is around decides to kill the tree dude. Joe shows up and sees you killing tree dude and goes and waits patiently for lady mel. <----Joe's kill.
jane was at lady mel's and was waiting patienly for her turn. suddenly her door bell rings in rl and she takes off running. Joe shows up and says 'HI" no reply from jane. joe waits patiently for jane to come back, and finnally she does. she says sorry someone was at the door. then jane decides to kill lady mel who popped up. <----- kill steal. it's really joe's turn.
Joe was at umbris camp farming next to a caster; killing any shadows the are spawned for exp. Jane shows up and kills the shadow caster. Joe gets mad, but...<----jane's kill on the caster as no damage was done by joe.
In the long run if you have't done damage to the mob, then it's not concidered kill stealing.
my 2 cents.
I always level my weapon myself. it's faster than recalling all over the place. i just go to tokuno and go nuts, plus, i've found some very decent leveling areas (5k exp per run, through the dungeon), but it's on fel side. personally i think that fel side needs a little bump when it comes to exp. harder monsters usually = better loot/better exp (shhhhh i know grizzle gives like low exp). if you make it appealing to them to go to fel side to level their weapons then it would clear up some of this problems. fel side liches should give hm.... tram is like 90 right? can you make the fel monsters exp like 110-150 per fel side liche?

Nice scenerios there anarchy
I am thinking that those particular set of words should be in the wiki someplace under Kill Steal Defined... maybe we could get less of these threads, or at least drop them from 5 or 6 new ones a year to 2 or 3

I think the most xp you get from any mob is 75. I get 64 off a lich, but am in total agreement with fel needing a little xp buff. Even 5%-10% for fel mobs across the board would make it more worth the extra damage you have to deal out.anarchy wrote: fel side liches should give hm.... tram is like 90 right? can you make the fel monsters exp like 110-150 per fel side liche?
Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
Definitely wiki-worthy. I agree.
Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
Actually, that would still be Jane's turn on Mel. There is no way to avoid Drevo aggroing on you (except hiding, but that's a forfeit), and surely you don't expect someone not retaliate when he does. Being attacked by a monster does not forfeit your turn on Mel (or any other waitable spawn). If you go out of the area (down the ladder at the Grove) then you DO forfeit. I know - you can stand far enough so that he doesn't see you. But then again - there is no specified "waiting place" at Mel, so I can basically wait where I please (in the confines of the area ofc).Jane was at lady mel's and was waiting patiently for her turn, the tree dude shows up and because lady mel hasn't shown up and no one else is around decides to kill the tree dude. Joe shows up and sees you killing tree dude and goes and waits patiently for lady mel. <----Joe's kill.
That is just a lack of common courtesy discussed earlier.Joe smoe was sitting at the same spawn and was attacking 1 liche, and then jane tele's in and kills the liche joe has not done damage too yet....<---not kill stealing

Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
Once again. This thread is not about:
>Popping from place to place manually
>Doom (Or any other particular spot)
>Leveling weapons
>Who has the rite to kill what.
>Spicific rules
>ETC....
It is about:
>Being a courteous player
>Being responsible
>Using common sense
I love Excelsior shard. This is one of the niceness shards I have ever played on and most everyone here is friendly and provides great socialization. There are a very few players that make things frustrating from time to time and it's very possible that they are unaware that what they are doing is causing anyone a problem. If you are not one of the people that is popping around with auto claim running on high or jumping in and attacking anything that is near by without consideration for the other player that is standing on the tile rite beside where you popped in then this thread is not directed at you.
There is no need to justify using a macro for whatever you want to use one for. You can use a macro to teleport yourself from one side of Britannia to the other (one tile at a time if you want) as long as it doesn't cause interference with the normal game play for everyone else. That is what this thread is about.
Be courteous and responsible with macros.
I can't for the life of me figure out what is so hard about this.
If you do not believe that people should be courteous and responsible with macros, By all means say so. That's what discussion is for, BUT Please do not misinterpret the meaning of what I am saying here. It seems like rules and specific points are being quoted to try to justify and reason not being courteous and responsible with macros. That doesn't make any sense. I can't imagine why anyone would want to disagree with the idea of being courteous and responsible.

Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
actually the lady mel with jane she decided to kill the tree dude not the tree dude came up to her. it was her choice to pull out of the spot and take on another monster. i've talked with the staff about this. if you stand way up top the tree dude won't aggro you, because he can't see you.
ok to stop confusion how about jane went down to take on some insane taffy girl, saw a joe run through so jane ran up to try to get her spot back. <---joe's kill.
what i'm trying to say if you move out of line you lose your place in line.

@Brian
The only clear thing I understood is that you are unhappy with people recalling on top of you and killing everything around them.
So why don't you stop the jazz and post some subs that will improve everyone elses scripting.

Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
Goes both ways I think.
If you see someone popping in and stealing your kill, it was probably unintentional. PM the macroer/scripter - with good manners - response might be something like "Oh, sorry, I'll fix that right away". If the response is "Cry me a river", then page and I hope the guy stays in jail.
I've seen many times someone shouting in public chat and paging staff about something that could have been fixed with a simple PM and good manners.

Failure is not an option, it's a standard.

Penny... You are a god sent. That is something I did not even think about. PMing the intruder and letting them know. As simple as that and it never crossed my mind. Thank you :]
Also. I reread my earlier post and it seems I have not been very courteous myself. I am honestly sorry for coming off so arrogant in my last post. I truly apologize to anyone that took offence to my arrogance and I will do my best to show a little bit more self control when I post in the future.
As far as posting a universal block of code that can just be inserted into any script to accomplish what needs to be accomplished, This will take some time and i'm not sure exactly how I will do it. It is fairly easy to adjust a script that you already have but actually starting with nothing and writing a sub that will work with any script is a little more challenging. I will start working on this rite away.

Re: Teleporting in and out of dungeons and Macro Farming
I level with a script from time to time. I have made a lot of effort to try and make sure it doesn't kill steal, and it's a lot better than the original script was. My current script does a check for other players in the vicinity before doing *ANYTHING*. Before checking for mobs, even. Granted this means that oftentimes my script will recall me out even if the other person isn't killing anything or has also recalled out ahead of me. Because of this, and the added time it takes for it to do the check and decide what to do next, my leveling is a little slower than most but I am completely okay with that. I like to level with a script, but I don't like to make the game less fun for the players that I encounter. My script's not perfect, every now and again it doofs up somehow and ends up snatching a mob that was arguably someone else's, but it's really rare and I always try to say sorry. Penny is right, manners count for a whole lot.
