Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
Hey Coli, I don't think there is any problem with the champ spawn the way it works at the moment (that I am aware of). I think it was good to have that round of voting after the 8th candle. If you are going to base the rewards on how many level each player contributed on the champ it really isn't a big difference whether I am voted in or not.
Usually when I go to a champ that is already ongoing and over 8th candles I don't even bother doing it, cause if it is a bunch of ppl that you DON'T know most likely you are not going to get in. Now, if we take out the voting rounds and I start killing the spawns say after the 10th candle my chances of getting anything vs the player that started from candle 1 will be substantial. So, I wouldn't do THAT champ either.
Another thing I think that might happen, is since it becomes an all in kinda event bosses like Neira, Seimidar (is that right?), and Rikkor will be down in less than a few mins... then ppl will start complaining that they didn't get a chance to target the boss. The only thing that deters this is that for these champs, players rarely broadcast it in public channel and thus when they hit the 8th candle most are not welcome.
If this change is due to 'some' players that just runs around pretending to help with the spawns and then when the champ comes out reap the benefits of the other players that did do something, then I can see your logic. Otherwise, if it ain't broken don't fix it.
How about holding a poll and see what the rest of the population thinks about this change. I mean... at the end of the day it is still YOUR decision of what you really feel is the best for the shard. Regardless, what the outcome might be it doesn't really affects me as I do not do champ so often, just when some friends ask for help or I happened to be at the right time and at the right place. Cheers!

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
I agree, at one point this was an issue, but champs these days are pretty friendly, almost everyone gets let in. I was actually thinking about posting this myself.
I would recomend focusing your efforts on some other things on your list.

Would you say its a problem the way it is now Anarchy?
Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
i think that it kind of sucks running to ice champ just to be not voted in.
Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
Yes, it does suck when it happens. Which brings me to my concern about +C's proposed idea. Example: One or two non Druids start ice, they call for help, since it's a long way to travel, by the time you get there, it's a good ways in. Under the proposed method, you might not get a PS. I see this leading to people not coming to help. Then we get frustrated non Druids stuck at the last stage unable to complete it.
If you make it no vote, but everyone gets a PS, that brings the possibility of ppl waiting just off screen, just to come in at the end. While it would irritate me, I'd let it go, but I could see others raging about it and making troubles for staff to sort out.
The player Wick (I think gone now) single handedly changed the culture of champs on the shard. He made them friendly by doing almost them all, and always posting it on [c. Although he is gone now, the friendly culture still exists. It's rare not to get voted in nowadays. Sometimes you even get voted in when the boss is already popped.
The purposed changes began over a year ago, champing was vastly different then and many people were upset. I see the champs working well now and the purposed changes actually creating a problem instead of solving one that isn't there.

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
If it is a NO vote then they have to work the spawn as with +C proposed change is... no work = no reward or if you do little you get little/you do more you get more. So, I doubt they will just hang out off screen cause even when the Champ spawned their chances will be close to 0 to get gold or a ps.Melkor wrote:Yes, it does suck when it happens. Yeah, Wick was a nice dude and always broadcasted the active champs in public or in pm. I really think there's no problem the way the champs are handle right now, at least I have noticed that all players new and old are being more considerate than before. Remember those days when ppl complained about unleashing their army of pets on the champ? Or the times when weaker players hang out around druid trees?Melkor wrote:The player Wick (I think gone now) single handedly changed the culture of champs on the shard. If we are going to do changes to the Champs in order to help the economy, then I suggest that if we do a NO vote change then make it random who gets a PS regardless at which candle level you enter (obviously the ones that started the champ gets a bonus % in chance) and also alternate that whoever gets a PS that person doesn't get gold... you get gold or you get a PS. Or like Melkor and I believe... just leave it alone.

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
It's a complicated matter. I trust the tutelage of +Colibri to make the right choice.
Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
I think everyone getting gold, with a chance for a PS is probably the best alternative. I think the biggest balance issue comes in with re-layers, and pets. The pet crowd complains about the re-layer crowd, the re-layer crowd complains about the pet crowd. Can we limit it to 2 pets? Would that be a happy medium? Most people should be able to keep up with the damage of 2 pets, even imps if they have 120+ archery, some decent gear, enemy of one, and armor pierce or double shot.
There are certain players who are .. rather mean about letting people in champs. I will not name them, but i'm sure they know who they are. They said no to me every single time i tried to enter a champ, and now i respond in kind. It's not hard to figure out, when you know you everyone at the champ, and people who normally say yes to you, and you don't get voted in anyways.
While we're at it, lets boost the hit points of the champs (other than MoA who has enough). The rest go down too easy in my opinion.

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
My 2 cents would be to (if possible) make the boss scale in HP with the number of people. Like if one person is doing the champ the boss has 5k HP, two people - 10k, three - 15k and so on. That way it's balanced regardless of the number of people doing a given champ and can give a chance to target the boss and do damage before it falls.
Also, as mentioned elsewhere - increase the timer on champ spawns. They are just too often for the PS market to work effectively.

I was referring to Anarchy's suggestion in this section, not +C's

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
Hi everyone,
Khamul here. Just wanted to suscribe most of the things that are being said here. I think the gold-per-skull participation method sounds really good. The players that do the whole champ still get their righteous reward in gold and the ones that arrive later still get something. The only flaw i can think of is that this could lead to some players arriving at the very end in purpouse, as the most valued champ reward is the PS itself, not the money, so maybe it would be a good idea to base the level of the powerscroll one might get in the skulls he/she participated in as well, just like with the gold.
I do 5-8 champs a day whenever real life schedule allows me to
nowadays, the number of players doing champs on a regular basis is rather small (10-20), and there aren't many issues with the system. In fact the only real issue is the rivalry that has been arising between a certain player and practically everyone else xD but i don't think this is a serious problem unless one takes it personally and not in terms of a rpg rivalry, wich i think it's even a cool feature (to have an archenemy), as long as we all stay within the limits of the shard anti-harassment rules (which might have been broken some times by the said player, but wich dont constitute so far a serious issue).
Well, all in all, i think the changes that are being promoted are a total win-win for everyone, but would like to hear your input about the PS level thing i mention on the first paragraph. Thanks for your time, and hope to see you on the next spawn
best regards,
Khamul.
ps: the changes would also end the said players disputes, so even better for everyone, as "blacklists" would dissapear

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
i stand corrected. yeah does seem unfair to let someone in for a chance for a ps. while he sits over the sideline, or worse bracelet of binding someone or multiple people into the champ area. let's leave it like it is. personally i like the old way. only 6 ps are given out, and if you solo a champ you get all 6
.

Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
Should make it impossible to solo a champ. There is no reason any one person should be getting 6 PSes.
Re: Regarding the incoming changes to the Champ Spawn
I like the current system. I think it works great. The only change I would make is like Namorah said, make them unsoloable.
