Password Reset Function?
I signed up yesterday and must of typo'd my password because now I cant get in and its killing me.
I havent been this excited to play a uo server since 2001. I've sent the necessary password request to the email address on the home page. However I was just wondering if there was any plan to include an out of game password reset function.
This shard seems very well put together and thought out but having to wait hours and hours for your password to be reset is borderline torture. I know its my own fault for messing it up and I'm not trying to bash the shard or the staff, I know they are busy and this takes time. It just seems terribly inefficient and uncharacteristic of the rest of the shard.

Re: Password Reset Function?
Just to reiterate my point and possibly catch the attention of a staffer that can help; Its been about 36 hours since my password change request. This is the type of thing that normally makes new players switch to another shard. I would think these days uo admins are looking to keep as many new players as they can and if I don't hear anything back by the end of the day I'm probably going to just give up on this shard.
Again this isnt an attempt to bash the shard or the staff, just merely constructive criticism from a prior staff member (different free server, not this one).
I looked around and noticed +Colibri hasn't posted on here since dec. 04, and I also pm'd all of the administrators on the site without a single response, or a response to this post for that matter. Makes a new player like myself truly wonder if this server actually has a dedicated admin staff.

Oaken I truly wish there were something I could do to help. Colibri not only has real life but I am sure he gets at least 30-50 emails a day from players here. Nyx & Veritas are usually around in the evenings, but I am not sure there is anything they can personally do about the situation. I hate to see new players leave over things that seem so minor to fix, but I do understand.

Re: Password Reset Function?
I appreciate that cope and I do understand the admins have their own lives and changing a password probably isnt a priority. Whats frustrating is something like this is easily avoidable by putting proper account creation measures in place. Auto account creation for a server that only lets you have 1 account seems pointless, and there are definitely better ways of doing this. You can do auto account creation via the website and have the players include their email address and a password reset function on the site. Doesn't make any sense to have to log in to the game in order change your password, what if you cant log in. Thats like keeping the spare key to your car, in your car....
Re: Password Reset Function?
This is a real shame. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Hope to see you back in game as soon as possible, bud.

Thanks Jecks, hope to be back in soon but still haven't heard anything. Maybe admin participation will increase since its the weekend.

If you're inputting an incorrect password it will tell you that you've used inaccurate account credentials or something like that. Stuck at verifying account might mean you're using the wrong client. What are the numbers are the bottom of your login screen?
Re: Password Reset Function?
Hmm I am using the version 7.0.29.2

Re: Password Reset Function?
try downloading the custom patch from the main page link. You have to have uTorrent to get it running, and if you dont have it installed already it only takes about 2 seconds to download. Its a relatively small program. Just watch out for the additional addons it tries to install, easily disabled if you pay attention during the install.
Re: Password Reset Function?
5.0.0 is correct. Refer to the wiki link 'Patching' to start fixing the problem.

Re: Password Reset Function?
Yeah, I just double checked 7.0 is too far. You need to connect using:
" 5.0.0 - 5.0.5b (tested; MOST RECOMMENDED VERSIONS)
5.0.5c - 5.0.9 (tested; works well)
6.0.0 - 6.0.1 (basically works, but with some issues)
6.0.2 and above (does not work; we don't know when we'll support these versions)"

5.0.5c - 5.0.9 (tested; works well)
6.0.0 - 6.0.1 (basically works, but with some issues)
6.0.2 and above (does not work; we don't know when we'll support these versions)"
