Voting issue since restart

Post by Annachie »

I voted on GT100 about 30 minutes ago, but the voting stone says I last voted about 26 hours ago.

I retried on GT100 and got "come back in 22 hours 30 minutes", but the stone still only shows the vote from yesterday.

From world chat it appears that I'm not the only one.

It's not just you. I tried a couple IPs with zero success.

Also, extreme top 100's captcha is incomprehensible.

The heck? There are two reasonable images. And then when you get it wrong they want your phone number. What a scam!

Off topic, but that site looks for the front image. it can be a little hard to tell sometimes.

It tells me "The stone didn't find any new votes that you could be rewarded for." both yesterday and today :(

Quick FYI, just to let you know that i'm aware of the issue and i'll look into it tomorrow. Judging from the chart at the link below, with the drop in the votes-per-day chart, many people are having the issue but not all.

As for the captcha, verifying by phone is not uncommon so i wouldnt say it's a scam, but well be careful where all you write your personal information.

Hi all,

I'm James from the FunCaptcha team. I wanted to pop in and personally address any concerns you all may have regarding our services on GTOP100 and any other voting sites you might use.

As you noticed Colibri, this is likely due to an API error between UO Excelsior Shard's server and GTOP100's site. That's not something we can fix but we're more than happy to help Colibir get in touch with GTOP100's admin if that's necessary.

Sorry for the possible difficulty here. We're currently testing a variety of images to see what works best. By this, we mean what stops votebots but let's genuine voters through. Annachie is right, the front image is the correct one in that case.

In relation to the phone number, Colibri is (again) spot on: definitely not a scam! A request for a phone number allows CAPTCHAs to verify by audio. It's not the fastest way but allows those who may be otherwise (usually visually) impaired to solve them.

Please contact us here with any feedback or ideas - we take every message seriously: https://www.funcaptcha.com/contact-us/

Thanks again,
James

Thanks for the reply James :) (was expecting something by email).
I'm also happy to see that you either know what Felucca is, or you just know how to google stuff well.

Yes the GTop votes issue was actually our server's fault.

As for the images, I'm hoping you'll find a good balance between keeping out bots while making it doable by humans.

Thanks James. I appreciate you taking the time to find us here and respond.

I apologize for the "scam" crack. All the same, I hope you understand why I was discomfited by a request for PII from a captcha site. I was looking for an (anonymous) "report this captcha as confusing" link, not a request for my phone number!

Regarding the double-image, I think you may have found your version of distortion-curved text -- the stuff more computers than humans can be trained to recognize. The blob in the background wasn't so bad, but with two legitimate images and no instructions it was far from obvious what I was supposed to do.

Best regards,
Wil

Very valid points Wil. They're both something we've noted and are actively working on resolving. Thanks for the great feedback.

And my pleasure Colibri. Unfortunately, I'm not TOO familiar with Ultima (dabbled a few years back) so I had to resort to Google-Fu.

I've been told that the lost votes were restored, but I'm pretty sure mine weren't.

edit
and just like that it was sorted. :)
