new player question

Post by aaronsmith »

hello there,
i was playing ultima online (1st generation) in like more than 15yrs ago(?), and quit when T2A launch.
i just found this shard lastnight and im reading the wiki of this shard and sounds very interesting!
but just curious it said no recall spell is allow for this shard?
so how can we suppose to travel around the map in this shard? only by riding/on foot? :?

Recall works most places. In a few places you'll have to run nearby first.

Mark is disabled on challenge maps like Felucca and Ilshenar. In Ilshenar you have to hoof it from the nearest world teleport (local equivalent of moongates). In Felucca you just plain have to hoof it.

You can mark and recall to nearly all of Trammel, including the islands like Serpent's Hold.

In Fel though, you will need a boat to get to islands. It sounds hard but it's actually very interesting to do. Makes one think. :D

Usually one thinks "Opps, I forgot my boat"

Alright, starting from when you last played, here's what you need to know:

T2A added the Lost Lands map
A couple years after T2A, Britannia was split into two complete lands: Felucca and Trammel. Felucca was the Britannia you remember. Trammel is a no-PVP version of Britannia: no attacking other players, no stealing from other players, in or out of town.

Origin added the Tokuno, Ilshenar and Malas maps.

Excelsior diverges from Origin.

There is no PK in Excelsior and PvP is limited to one small dungeon. Felucca was re-purposed from a PvP area to a non-PvP area in which high-level monsters have taken over all the towns and you have to plan your navigation there instead of just casting recall.

Excelsior diverges further with lots of custom stuff. I'll let you learn about that as you go.

Short short version: Do you enjoy being ganked by Red murderers? If no, Excelsior's your kind of place. Log in and join us. If yes, do you prefer to be ganked the way you remember it or do you want to be ganked the various newer ways? If you want it how you remember it, try the UOSA or UOR shards.
