Journey to GM Remove Trap

After a recent talk with Yoda, GM Trap Remover ... I set out to raise my skill to 100.

His advice was he GM'd the skill using Dungeon chests only. I plan to follow his advice with occasional breaks to try for gains on Treasure map chests, and Prison camp chests. I will simply document this journey with regular updates.

I made it up to 80 skill with a single chest, cast magic trap on it and remove trap on it. Using a macro for 3 days got me the max gains to 80 skill.

I started my quest 2 weeks ago at 80.4 Remove Trap skill.
July 15th, my skill is 81.8 using dungeon chests casually to date.
July 16th 4 hours game play - at 83.2 now - averaging about 0.3 an hour - one chest got me 0.2 gains before untrapping :dance
July 17th 4 hours game play - at 84.2 now
July 17th 1 hour game play on Prisoner Camps - NO GAINS at 84.2 skill. :verymad:
July 19th 5 hours of dungeon chest RT at 86.7 now - gained 0.6 on one chest before it untrapped, another 0.4 and 2 - 0.2
July 28th after a few days off, 3 more hours of game play got me to 88.0 skill 8)
Oct 2 2 hours of play - 0.5 gain total ... at 88.5 now

Is remove trap necessary for treasure chests? I thought you could just use telekinesis.

Sick P .... most of the time I just open the trap and take the damage :nod:

Or you can take 1 step away from the chest once you have picked it and you take no damage when opening.

Can you stay hidden then if you use remove trap?

yes remove trap doesnt break your stealth

Takes a while to do but it can be done without a skillball, on my front porch rune library I have 2 runebooks with dungeon locked boxes, that is what I used

it would be cool to make remove trap matter... maybe damages the vials or other goodies within.

just saying.

I really wouldn't say there is a "top dungeon" I just went and marked 2 runebooks of dungeon locked boxes, as they randomly spawn at various quality.. a room that may have had 3 chests that were of the sort able to give a gain the next time through would have none maybe and so on.

regardless on the front porch of my house (walk west of either JDI store teleporter) is a rune library, in the left collection of shelves you will find 2 runebooks of locked dungeon boxes, these are what I used to gm the skill.
