Looking for ideas for hunting.

Hey there all.. I've been racking my mind on new hunting places for my dad and I. I'd like to say I'm a mid range player. Currently I have 4 relayers 223 Dex 203 hp. He's working on his first relayer. I've been working on the goc Wisconsin, currently have two done, 3 once I get the easier drops from the sanctuary. I have 3 fully ointed imps and just got a 4th to oint up. Most champ spawns are fairly easy for us to duo and so far most of the places we've gone is easy. Fel wrong was my next choice but most of the stuff inside one shots me still. I was hoping to find some insight on more places to hunt that may provide a challenge for us to do. Thanks ahead of time for your input!

Hey Glooping,

Out of curiosity, what other pieces of gear to do you have, as 203 HP from 4 relayers seems low. I have 4 relayers as well, but also use 4 goc pieces, 8/8 dex/strength jewelery and a SoT headpiece, and have 399 HP. I mention this because I don't use pets and it wasn't until I was above 300 HP that I felt comfortable tanking the harder stuff.

If you are doing GoC quests at the moment, have you done Labyrinth yet? I love farming the minotaurs, swoops, sharks and minotaur captains in that place as it is usually empty and can turn over a fair bit of gold.

As for challenges, I used Balrons as my bench mark. I worked myself up to tanking a regular balron and once that was easy, worked myself up to tanking a paragon balron. Not sure how applicable that is, but it helped me feel ready for the higher end content.

As a mid ranged player, these were the things I focused on;
1) Explore fel and see what dungeons are doable
2) Lady Mel and Travesty peerless
3) Gauntlet
4) GoC dungeons
5) Level your end game weapons (5x58s) to prepare for harder content
6) Aim to do the Save Christmas quest for the Jewel of Winter

It took me 4 years of earning gold for weapons and relayers to feel powerful enough to do the Christmas quest.

I hope that helps a little, but there are certainly better experienced people on this shard that can offer more advice for your situation. Best of luck and as a motto I stick to for Ultima Online, if you're not dying, then you're not trying anything new  .

Other than my relayers nothing I have is overly special.. my jewelery is just 8 Dex each. Nothing else really useful on them.. my armor is mostly crafted. I focused more of rpd than other stats on them. I do have max resists. My str cap is only 125 at the moment because I didn't have enough gold to get a +50 increase and went with Dex increase over str.

Ah ok. I personally think keeping your strength capped at 125 is fine. It doesn't add anywhere near as much HP for the cost involved in getting it to 150.

Also, unless you have plans for the other pieces, I believe 4 pieces of GoC (Chest, Boots, Sleeves, Gloves) are great items that will hold you over until you decide to replace them with relayers.

To better highlight the value of 4 GoC pieces, consider this: a relayer deed is 500ed (25mil gold minimum). A completed GoC gem is usually 3.5mil gold, so 4 of those would be a total of 14 million, which is 56% the cost of a single relayer. Of course, prices will fluctuate, but you will still easily be able to afford 4 GoC pieces and have change left over for the price of one relayer.

I hope this helps and if you and your dad need a hand or want to do any of the things I listed in my previous post, hit me up anytime in-game.

All the best,

Hunting spots can be a challenge, especially as your dad gets a few relayers and you guys are doing the content duo. However, the places I'd suggest would be a notch below fel wrong and its less about the power of the mobs and more about keeping yourself from being inundated by them.

Fel Terra Keep is pretty outstanding if you are looking for a little adventure. Easy to get there (from fel despise) and good gold. I don't know about doing it with pets though.

Another suggestion is Fel Bucs Den (you can get there easily from forget, if you know where the arches are).

There is the Twisted Wheld(sp?) Where dread horn is. If you pull them carefully you can take them pretty easily, and get some 3/4x46 weps.

Treasure Map hunting - the level 5 maps are easy, but lvl's 6/7+ you start getting the ballys and they are tougher in fel.

Fel Minoc is fun, and so is fel Cove.

Also, this might prove to be difficult to do, for now, is S'Gail that is a fun place to go.

Fel Wind can be fun in spots.

Also on a semi-related note, you should work on getting 8/8 (str/dex) jewelry and getting a "Spirit of the Totem" those will help bump your HP a bit.
Don't know if thats the type of stuff you're looking for but I hope it helps.

*edit* this also occurred to me! Since you fight as a duo, you guys can farm plat/petri/ethy elementals, one person needs a bow and one person can uninsured everything and when an tele pops one kills it and can res the other person (plat eles hit VERY hard) but you guys could do it, provided one of you stands a good distance away.
Valorian in game!

With a duo and pets, plat elementals are easy. They won't one-hit the 1000 hp pets but 5 maxed pets will make short work of the plat elementals. If they one-hit you, your partner rezes.
