weird taming thing

Post by Wil »

I just saw a strange taming thing. I camped the golden pony spawn while training another golden pony on my personal trainer. When the pony spawned, the one from my trainer teleported itself there. Just... boom, they both showed up at exactly the same time.

Probably code glitch ... golden pony is "singleton" on at the time ... somebody somewhere used "move all of that type" instead of "move this <serial>" :-)

Actually, it's interesting: tamed creatures remain linked to the spawn until some unspecified event occurs later. For example, if you have an animal spawner and tame something, the Info menu item to adjust the spawner will still appear.

Also, for a while after you tame a creature, dex and stamina are linked (in some, also int and mana). If dex increases through fighting (e.g. on a trainer) the stamina goes up too. Then something happens and they become unlinked. It's when they're shrunk for a while but not immediately when they're shrunk. But immediately if you open the menu to apply points.

Pet serials change when there is a server restart so it's a fair guess to say that is when the link is broken, I figured this out because server restarts always broke my leash macros. Silenced squirrels also become unsilenced after a server restart. Pet serials and extra info seems to be like the BOD system. The pool of potential BODs is fixed and only changes on server restart.
