I've just reformatted my hard drive and so am currently trying to get back onto UO.
so far i downloaded and installed the excelsior prepatched client v12
I can log in but the world screen is all black
can anyone help me with a guide or fix please

Can you launch it without assistant, and see does it causes problem?
Also do you connect world? hear sounds and see icons, and backpack content, or all screen is black? Can you interact with something nearby, lets say does gump open if you say buy, etc...
am not technician and wouldn't be able to help, i guess. but perhaps it could decrease range of seeking.

yes im launching it without assistant of any kind the screen is black but i can see and hear everything also i can see backpack and paperdoll ect also running windows 11

I see you were in dungeon Wrong Felucca, but I pulled you to the Town Center in case that was causing any problems. I logged into your account* and I can see the floor and vendors and everything, just fine.

I had to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) on my laptop with Windows 11. I think this could have been to get UOS to work. It's been a while. Just tossed it out there in case it helped.

I got the same issue as you and all I did was just uninstall, then install it again.
If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one.

i install game again and i forgot my main password and ideas how to recover?

If you have same password in forum's as in game than you can try to go trough forgot password section in forums.
Also you could try to send message to + trough same e mail which you registered in game, but i don't see separate section about password recovery in codex but here is link, there is acc recovery section lower https://www.uoex.net/codex/services/recovery
