Scavenger Hunt Updates
Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
Great event.. I had a lot of fun, it got heated and compeditive between my wife and I phoebe.. I sadly think she will win in the end. aside from a personal preference (I am anti chess, more of a battleship man) the event was well planned and thought out and quite fun.. thanks for the memory

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
First of all I'd like to thank-you Lestat for putting this together. It has been a lot fun. I like that some of the clues really made you think and weren't as obvious. I enjoyed exploring other people's houses, gave me more deco ideas. I learned some stuff about the shard that I didn't know (like that there's a chess board to play against other players). It was a lot fun and thanks!

I would like to say thank you Lestat for this wonderful event. This shard needs more of this stuff and hopefully you have inspired some others to do something. I really enjoyed the mazes and the riddles. They kept me on my feet and kept my mind working all day to solve them. I can't wait until the next one!

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
I totally agree, it was a wonderful event. Felt a little bit like old times, when UO was still a wondrous World you could explore. Like Legendaries said before, i also found myself sitting at Dinner, thinking about one of your Riddles
The Tasks were well thought out, and a lot of fun. Thx for your hard work!

Great job Lestat. You can tell a lot of time went into the entire event. Can't wait for the next one.
Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
Wanted to say thank you for the wonderful job. It was fun, had its moments but definitely fun. By the way I wanted to say thank you to anyone who offered advice/ a little help with this. Too many people to list but you all were very nice. Much appreciated.
Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
Ok, a report. I'll make it an honest one.
The first week:
from a beginner point of view it was.. challenging. (I been here 30 days as of today, before that I quit uo 11years back so all this tokuno, etc etc things were totally new to me)
and I seem to recall it was said to be for beginners and vets alike.
The hardest quest first week was to find cornheads..cornbreads? house took me a good while before I was told it was a player.
The amount of curses I have used to try grow a flower is beyond reason for those bonuspoints ....*sigh* after 3 days I "cheated" and bought a plant.
I was not so familiar with [exex that first week, and never heard of gargoyle city and stackable items and toolhouses where also news. Not to get a clear answer, left me a bit frustrated (keep in mind I was tearing my hair from that flower pot thing) add to that "the reagent/mage quest" which left me quite broke(costed me 200k) now thats alot of money for someone new.
The chatt quizz/ riddles "each" day added a bit confusion due to the timezones and I was not particularly fond of those.the final thing the first week that I didn't liked was that extra points had been added as i understood it, to someone who had greatly added to the reagents in the spellkey, I thought that a bit unfair, since I had worked so hard for it. It was not stated anywhere additional points besides the additional points could be added ( sounds a bit confusing I know).
That sent me in a grumpy mood, and I skipped the second week, I was broke and kinda needed some time to familiarize with uo again and evolve my character, and from the time I had put down in the hunt the first week, left me a bit behind in rl.
I can be a bit competitive.
Third week I decided to give it a go again, I cant tell you any details due to the hunt is still in play, but I have learned how you plan and set things up,and also more knowledgeable about the shard, so it was not as hard as the first week and quite enjoyable.I recommend a spell check before you write the books, or just reread it for typos.
This scavenger hunt has taught me alot, even though the learning curve have been steep and stressful, and the joy when i completed one of the harder ones or came to a milestone in a quest was amazing. I meet alot of kind people, (and a few not as kind) and have seen places I probably would not have seen otherwise, and for that I'm grateful. I have also come to understand what an incredible amount of time you have put down into this hunt, not to mention the money and effort ..I take my hat off & applaud you. Your town is great, and many of the ideas in the hunt were quite unique. One of my favorite bit in the third week was the chess part where you had to play someone you had never met before. This makes it a little harder for the old folks, and it was also great to get people to know each other.
I also think that you should keep part of the hunt permanently so more people can enjoy it, cause it was great fun.
you might want to consider to bribe nyx with some flowers or sacrifice a goat to V (or vise verse)to help set up a reward for that though, cause imagine it been a lot of work emptying your bank account these three weeks
Iam looking forward another hunt.
And remember you dont need fancy prizes for people to join, so dont feel pressure there for the next hunt, I think many did it for the fun of it, and in my book thats what counts.
I hope you all have a great time at the party saturday, I wont be online after tonight until monday due work so I cant attend, save some cake for me
and again, great work to you Lestat and your friends that helped you out.

Almost everything that I had listed was able to be gotten by playing the game ... However as you indicated and are right ... Sometimes play time is not so much .. SO perhaps the first week with the intense spell key requirements was a bit much. And with the feed back I have been getting so far I will likley do an event like this again. I will find something different to use LOL ... As for some of the other items ... I do understand that you were a brand new player and maybe did not have enough time to adjust to some of the features of the shard and I am sorry for that as well ... I tried to make this hunt as braud as I could to be able to allow younger and older alike to play and participate. As Some of you have likley noticed a few features that were added to this event that would have made this much harder with out... A special Thanks to +Coli for the assistance with those things.
I thank you again for coming along ... and I am sorry it cost you as much as it did ... but note that all of those that registered and participated will get a nice participation reward.
Also know that Some of the items that you all collected will be handed out as prizes as well ...
To everyone else keep up the it helps me out a lot in planning and coordinating someting else in the future ... Maybe something that's only a week rather than almost an entire month lol ...
Thanks .

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
Good day everyone,
Well, I really enjoyed the Maze type parts the most, and anything that had you run around thru houses and such looking for items. The riddles are ok but I like the interactive parts best.
Overall great job, it must of taken a lot of time to organize and setup so I hope everyone that participated took that into account and enjoyed themselves.
Thanks Lestat..was fun!

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
Lestat,
Thank you very much for hosting the event and providing great prizes. The 3 week long scavenger hunt was fun and challenging. I played for the first time chess on the shard (and probably the first time in many many years). I discovered many new things I didnt know about and realized that you, CB, Geo, and Nagash have way too many house plots.
Thanks again and looking forward to the next event

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
At First i was bit worried about how far a player could go regarding events due to the obvious limitations, however i was VERY pleasantly surprised at how clever, fun, and challenging at times this whole thing was. Glad you used higher powers to add more flavor to this event, which really gave it that, "This is a real event" feeling. The interactive parts were the best! I did not do so well, but i still loved it! There were many moments where i was cursing at NPC's in good fun
A very big thank you to all of you involved especially Lestat + The ones who worked on this in the background!
Thoroughly Enjoyed!

Re: Scavenger Hunt Updates
I first want to just say thank you for all of the comments.... It means a lot to me.
I wanted to just give you all an update. I am debating on releasing the results of the hunt later today or if I should hold off until the party as a final suprize ...
I do have to say either way ... that this has been very fun for me to host and see what some of you came up with for answers to the riddles ...
THanks again will get back to you soon.
Lestat

I can't seem to find the original post about these hunts... Would someone be so kind to explain me what are these about/what do people do in these events? For what I have read from the forums and heard in-game this scavenger hunt sound great
I would like to participate myself if you still do another round
