I agree, exciting!
I suggest moonstones as rares in chests.

Love the idee T-hunting gets an "upgrade"

Don't think Tram T-maps need any change.

Love to see that Fel gets some love by giving spec loot
(moonstones, rares(old daily/hourly), Peculiar Seeds)
Give a change to get a higher lvl chest, If you diggup a Expertly t-map, You get the spawn of a Adeptly

Maby some new items.
+1lvl to weapon deeds
ED's.
Spec Moonstone that gates you(and party) to a small dungeon with spec mobs/loot (lvl of mobs get higher the more people join)

Here are my ideas

[*]Make Map levels 1-5 worthwhile, have a scaling % chance to obtain rares in each chest so level 1 might be 0.1% chance, level 2 could be 2.0% etc
[*]Spawn more mobs when looting chests (scales with level), the greater the risk the better the rewards
[*]Have a chance to spawn a random treasure map inside, maybe a new level 7 map can only be found as loot in treasure chests
[*]Random chance for the mobs that spawn to be paragons regardless of facet (similar to gravedigging)

I love the above ideas.

1 I think it would be cool to find a glass sword (for old Ultima time's sake), even if it was just decorative.
2. a rare stuffed animal that spawns with the treasure hunter's name on it. =D

I didnt' have much to add since the ideas above were already interesting.

To me the most obvious thing is either coordinates or a general location (near trinsic). I spent a lot of time building my treasure hunter onlly to abandon it because of the map system. I'm sure that once you have played a while you get to know the maps, but for newer t-hunters, its boring and frustrating to try & find the location.

uo stratics has a handy map archive and many players have the spots marked with corrisponding numbers to that archive
so if its a trammel map you can be whisked right to it

Aye Yoda. There is a file for UOAM with all the Trammel locations marked. Pretty easy to find the chest once you decode the map.

Someone mentioned seeds, rare seeds would be awesome for gardeners.

Equipment that adds to fishing , lockpicking , and other useful treasure hunter skills. Different
ancient art sculpture type items. maybe pull up a king tut or something for example from a mib.
Items that make some form of animation based off biblical or ancient gods. bring back some
of the divine theory stuff since this is knights dragons archer gargoyle era type game.

I like the idea of "Lost Knowledge" books that teach you how to make new armor types, carpentry types,
and even new plant types. If you want to script in different things.

When I think about treasure hunting (Fishing and Maps) what comes to mind is. "Old Times, Knowledge, Booty(Treasure)"

for all of those who suggested i use the archive, let me just say that it would been helpful if showed all the maps so you could scan through them. I never remember where i got a map. I am all over the place. So i have to click on every spot are the archive to find what i am looking for. I end up giving up. Once again, I have to say this is a problem for people starting out in the craft. I have talked to a number of people who abandon it because the decoding is useless. You spend all that time building a skill and that in return. Useless. As you tell I am frustrated and hope they do something to make this a desireable skill.

I use UO treasure hunter tools

it shows where all the treasure locations are at and gives you xx,yy to get to em

then u input the xx,yy into uo automap and walk to the location. also tells you what map number it is so u can use
the library runebooks in trammel.

+1 to this, its awesome that my post did good for the shard im happy :) anyways yeah.

plz just plz ! no more junk in it maybe a few bad things but not terrible ones and a whole lot of them lol.
decos is not my thing for the moment but im not against them
making all maps worth going for them its cool :)
the thing is the items that r spread around the shard and what makes ur character into a superman are defently a million years better than whatever u can find inside the T maps chest for exeption of a few artys, thats it....

lvl 7 maps ohh yeah ! +++

other facet maps makes it amazingg :)

oinments esscens and stat potions should go too rare jewels too and whatever u guys want to put inside im happy with.

just plz fix them so we can find other stuff to do :)

making them imposible to get is not nice thou lol plz keep in mind that lvl 6 maps have already some dificulty if u r alone and not everyone have the same time to spend on lvling weps and releay them and stuff.

lets plzznot make the space between new players even wider :)

( sorry if my english is wierd )

I'd like to add that, for me at least, treasure maps are rare in the extreme in the first place. I'm a pretty avid PvMer, I've frequently hunted mobs that traditionally drop tmaps, and I've only managed to get a handful ( ~6 ) in eight months on this server so far. While I actually appreciate scarcity of good treasure, good treasure isn't scarce across the board so I wonder why it's so with tmaps.
