I am actually surprised that personal rl attacks ("You chose your lot in life not us...", "If you dont like the fact your broke and cant buy EDs blame yourself...", "Your acting like a child", "Stop trying to ruin/change the game due to your personal problems") can be placed here without any action from a staffer that most likely have red it. If that is the kind of bully you want on the shard, so be it. And before saying I am the one bringing my rl on the boards, please read again: "one may have a job" ("may" as hypothetic, as an example).

P.S.: I am also wondering if the fact that i received an anonymous message here calling me names for the first time today (in two years) and the fact that this player is bullying me have something to do toghetter.

But getting us back on topic. I'm really happy to see that since the start of this post, ED's have dropped by half. 50k is a good price for them to be imo. Personally, I like 40k better, the numbers just worked nicer, but hey, I can't complain. The exex and the raffles have really changed things up, or is it something else? Seems like everything is harder to sell and thereby selling cheaper.

Time for my 2 cents.


1. This post is to no one specific and to everyone in general
2. EDs are for server maintenance. “Donations” or whatever word play you want to use that’s it. If Colibri gets more “Donations” that the server could ever use Good for him and thank you for having my virtual world up. (yes Mine because it is my home and of others )
3. ED selling for gold is a horrible idea it would take out “donations” And if you don’t donate and buy it with your gold then you wouldn’t buy it from those who actually bought it. So the system works like it or not.
4. You can sell any item for whatever price you want that’s up to the Seller and the Buyer has the choice to buy it or not. That’s the bottom line.
5. “Elites” …….. we all are Elite since we play here
6. Don’t get in to personal life about if someone can or can’t afford EDs to be honest if you can’t afford it I am sure you can buy them in game if you really wanted to like it has been mentioned.
7. UO is a Sandbox game you can do what you want and this Server adds to it with lots of custom features that need to be nerfed once you notice the impact. Example: 4 story houses filled with Bees. Now it is 25 per person.
8. You do not need to donate to become powerful and kill every monster in this game. I have helped new players that have become good friends on this shard to kill any monster. SO saying you need to donate is “False”. You need to donate to get cool features and stuff “True”.
9. These numbers mean nothing! Just the way I wanted to post.
10. I have donated more than I should have and will continue to. WHY because I love the stuff I can do here that you can’t do on other shards (OSI/ other shards/ or if created my own and was all alone).
11. This Thread needs to be locked for pure silly reason that it is full of silly posts including my own. or not! your call!
12. I love you all and hate you all at the same Time (equally). That’s a fact! (Staff included) Especially when talking bad about +Rayne and she pops out… my rear still hurts from that day … But you learn from your mistakes
13. I seen good and bad on this shard both friends so please lets drop this and do whatever everyone does in game with their time.

Yes, today we got eds at 46k per on exex

There seem to be balance now in the value of the Eds. Did we get help from the hand of god to get things back to normal? Who can say, but it's absolutely fine now! If this post did help a little bit, I think it was worth the rants. Rants that probably came from players who used to buy at 70k and sell at 90-100k.

Yes, players do sort of set the prices on most things here. But Coli really kind of set the price for ED. Look at the ED stone and the bless deed and then look at the gold stone at the same item. What made the price raise on them? Two reason pop to my mind. Greed and desperation from the player base... ok a third... the ease at which gold can be gathered through killing certain monsters and by tending beehives.

I am glad Exex has made the prices for some things drop. That is a great system for that alone. Not to mention how smooth it is to use.

Thought I would throw my two cents in here...

Personally I came to the shard because I was hoping for a friendly shard that had close players and was hoping for a bit of RP as well. When I first started out I was not disappointed either, I received much help and interacted with many friendly players, though a RP element wasn't found I did not mind as I was having fun.

However as time passed, I noticed more and more that the friendly attitude and strong community was a self delusion I cast on myself just from the handful of players I interacted with. As I became more familiar with other players and interacting more I realized that most players are here for their own self satisfaction. I didn't mind too much though, greedy thoughtless people are everywhere and not much you can do about that. After all I don't need to befriend the whole shard just to have fun.

Sorry to hear that but I agree. In my case I give out for free far more then I could ever sell. Why, because I like to. Not to feel big or anything but just because. Now that could be a delusion on my part but whatever works. That's me, not anyone else. What they do is what they do and for their own reasons. Suppose I could make more money by selling everything in sight like 20k for a silly deco staff made pizza but why? I tame and breed and make enough to keep doing it. If some newer player wants help then I try, If they ask for free things too often though I finally get tired of it and tell them I can't help any more. I have a vendor with sub maxxed pets so I can sell cheap for new players to afford.

Getting off track that's something else, used to be new players were considered here. Doesn't feel like it anymore except for some players. Events are all set up for high end and if you ask for some mid level you're ignored. Or worse it's painted it's for you. I don't give a darn as I can't focus enough but give them a chance to do some.
Prices are jacked by changes and newer players don't get the same breaks or openings the older ones had(Hey I've been here over a year at least so it's not like I'm excluded here).
I guess the cash for eds is supposed to fix that, don't care. I find myself starting to question things I've tried not to before. I donated for one reason, to keep the servers going, not for ed or any other crap. I don't know the prices on energy or bandwith over there and since it is never posted I don't know what monthly costs are for keeping this up. Perhaps that could be posted like a monthly this is the minimum we need like some other shards do in their forums or web sites. Not going to take a side on how much is taken in or any of that unless I see +Colibri flashing a pic of his new sports car. I can't donate now as I have too many medical bills. So those that do I thank. (oh wait have to retract slightly, last donation I did early because I wanted a enchanted runebook so my greedy on that one) I was really going to anyways, just couldn't resist. Even after +Colibri told me he'd give me one since I donated right before he decided to release it.

I know what you mean out the people not being as helpful or as nice as they used to be, when I first joined I was impressed by the niceness and willingness to help others.

Now it seems when someone cries out for helps there's a stream of remarks to say "well don't take it on if you can't handle it" thats all fair and well but dont people have scope for abit of trial and error, we all make errors in our calculations of what we take on, and its off putting for those people if they are being told off for trying new things and at least giving it a go!!!

I remember when I got killed in mushroom dungeon, a small group of helpful players came to my aid, this gesture of warmth and kindness touched my heart *gets all fuzzy* I was so impressed that I deciced to play this shard and thought what a great bunch of people.

Now I see people making sarcastic remarks to those who ask for help/ or just ask a random question.

I mean isnt that the point of world chat, to open communication to rest of player base.

If we are not careful we will be pushing people away from playing this shard as can you imagine what a new person would be thinking if they see people being scolded for asking for help, it makes the shard an isolating place

Anyways lets get excelsior back to the nice, helpful, kind place I think it should and has been... awesome and beautifully designed shard, lets have beautiful, kind hearted people too

My reply is usually that it's to hard for me to help with. Usually right though a couple of times I actually was surprised that it wasn't true. I usually get the gimme gimme pages. Some I don't mind because by not charging I ask for it, but someone I don't even know sitting at brit bank asking for money. Begging is a skill not a profession.

I waited a year to get a rideable drake, never got lucky then when night died and I just ran off to help him I actually found one. I got on global not for help but to decide if I wanted to commit suicide and try for it with 3 paragon ancients waiting. Ya know what happened, got advice and then in came two players to help out. On the bad side night quit, good side I got to see two people help me without asking for anything. I still avoid fel, except when someone I've helped out or like gets ripped there, then I help them. But it feels more like a revenge thing then anything else. How dare that shadow go after him. I don't make myself out to be anything, but there are still some special people around, they just don't always see someone needs help. And when night died, 3 other people ran out to help. So they are out there still. At least some players are still helpful.
