Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
hey i want something for the monk puzzle, i could have posted that answer but that did not answer the question the way you wrote it.. in your original one you gave no actual number of monks.. so that led me to believe it was a different puzzle... <cries>

This one is worth 10ED.
Boxes of fruit
There are three bags that contain fruit. In one there are just kiwis, in the other there are just lemons, and in the third there's a mixture of both. All of the bags are labeled, but the labels have been switched. We know that none of the bags are labeled correctly.
How can label the boxes correctly if you can only take 1 fruit out of each bag?

Look in the bags before you take the fruit out.
That was my first thought...then i thought....lable boxes when they are in bags....Label the boxes whatever you want the fruit is not in there...

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
When taking the 1 fruit out of the bag, feel the other fruits in the bag.
Feels the other fruits in the bag while your hand is in it. * The fruits feels hairy* = Kiwis
Feels the other fruits in the bag while your hand is in it. * Feels Like Orange Skins* = Lemons
Feels the other fruits in the bag while your hand is in it. *A mixture of feeling. Hairy and Orange skins * = Lemons and Kiwi
As for labeling the boxes, after feeling your way through, label the boxes from what you feel.

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
Hehe i hoped that the title "logical puzzles" will hint that the solutions won't be so trivial.
Ok let's put it this way: The bags are behind the counter and the store clerk can show you 1 fruit from each bag

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
Ok then take have him show you one that is labeled for both fruit. Is that is a kiwi then you know there are no lemons in it.Therefore label that one kiwi. Leaving the lemon bag wich would have the mixed and the kiwi wich would have lemons and label them as so... Can be also done if you get a lemon from the mixed fruit bag . label it lemons then the kiwi would be mixed and lemon would have kiwi.... hope i explained it so you can understand... thought it was a trick question at first =-)

Find X
Here's a fun one, won't give credit until the solution is found, if i tell you where it's from then you'd just google it hehe. And since I have a feeling it's pretty well known already, the reward will be just 20 ED.
Find X:
1 = 6
2 = 36
3 = 288
4 = 2592
5 = 41472
6 = X

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
The answer I came up with is 1,036,800.. but the formula I used didn't quite work for numbers 1 and 2.
I went (result number) x (sequence number)²
So
288 x 3² = 2592
2592 x 4² = 41472
41472 x 5² = 1036800
Of course..
6 x 1² <> 36
36 x 2² <> 288
Do I at least get half-credit?

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
i have figured the equation a few different ways but i will post only one at a time.
This way i figured as
IF
1 = 6
2 = 36 making 36 divide by 6 = 6
3 = 288 making 288 divide 36 = 8
4 = 2592 making 2592 divide 288 = 9
5 = 41472 making 41472 divide 2592 = 16
so given that you start with 6 jump 2 equaling then 8 then one to 9 then 7 to 16
you should then jump one to make x divided by 17 = 41472 so 41472 x 17 = 705024
X = 705 024
once again i have figured it out a few different ways to get various different answers depending on equations set
This way i figured as
IF
1 = 6
2 = 36 making 36 divide by 6 = 6
3 = 288 making 288 divide 36 = 8
4 = 2592 making 2592 divide 288 = 9
5 = 41472 making 41472 divide 2592 = 16

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
this is just an addition to what blaze wrote as he inputted numbers using squares however when writing
6 x 1² = 36 and 36 x 2² = 288
I disagree as 36 x 2² = 144 as exponents are done first resulting in 2² = 4 so when you multiply 36 x 4 = 144 then multiply by two
However if you do 36 x 2³ = 288 as it would then be 36 x 6 = 288
same goes for 1 as no matter what exponent is written with 1 to the power of anything
is still equal to 1 making 6 x 1(any natural exponent) = 6
B - Brackets
E - Exponents
D - Divide
M - Multiply
A - Addition
S - Subtraction
sorry blaze but rest seems quite ideal for the equation
6 x 1² = 36 and 36 x 2² = 288

Re: Logical puzzles with prizes!
Well good thinking, and i'm going to give you a little reward for it, but not quite the real solution
Reward is now 30ED.
Same goes for the following:
1 = 6
2 = 6 + ( 38 * 10^-8 )
3 = 288
4 = 182.38 * 10^12
5 = e^Pi * sin( Pi / 6 )
6 = X
And surprisingly, also for the following:
1 = 6
2 = 26
3 = 326
4 = 4326
5 = 54326
6 = X
Find X
