Weapon change question

Hi guys... I'm hoping someone will school me a lil. I want to make my Reaper of Souls (one handed) into a one handed Yummi- so I can also have a shield. Will a weapon change deed keep the "one handed" attribute of the Reaper if I change it to a weapon that is typically 2 handed? Can I level it after changing it? I'm assuming yes but it there a drawback to bow vs melee?

If you change it into a Yumi it will be 2 handed. To make a 2 handed weapon 1 handed you need a relayer deed. So in your example it would be 200ED plus 500ED. You can level it provided it has a level deed on it that is not already at level 100.

Firs, If you weapon change it to a yumi it will be a yumi so it will be two-handed. You would need to use a 500ED relayer deed to make it one handed.
As for leveling you can level it after you change it/relayer it. However, consider that the reaper is a whirlwind weapon thus you can damage a lot of monsters all around you (up to 9 without hit area) that means you can kill faster and thus level your weapon quicker. I thinks its somewhat quicker to level killing smaller monsters a lot faster (think liches) rather than hitting a bigger harder monster and killing it slower (think balron). For those purposes I'd personally rather leave it as a whirlwind wep. Once its leveled then if you so choose then use the wep change/relayer deed on it.

Thank you! I looked at relayer too but wasn't sure which one would keep it a one handed.

I tried it out today and your right. I like the whirlwind and reconsidering the whole Yummi idea altogether! I'm surprised how fast its leveling. Thanks for the advise!

Yes, the whirlwind makes all the difference when leveling, a lot of people will change other weps to whirlwind weps just for leveling.
A yumi IS a great wep for single targeting such as when you do need/want to take out a balron. But its almost always going to prove to be better to level as a whirlwind wep. Another option for single target is an ornate axe.
