Myself and 14 or so others were staff(and a few listeners) at an online radio station and we all started playing this to play together. One of the group picked this shard after some searching and we all ended up here. I'm the last one that still actively plays, TheCuteOne will still login occasionally when she feels like it.

I was looking on UO Gateway for a good shard that had what I wanted, so i chose Excelsior because it was the closest to what i wanted

Hehe, yes... was like "hey man, me lero and morpheus are making a shard, want to come and play all day on an almost empty shard?" hehe. Was i think 5 people online at peak :p But you kept stocking vendors and did the mining & lumberjacking and eventually it all ended well

Found my old UO disc in my drawer and thought about playing again but then remembered how much time i spent trying to get my $10 worth a month and put it away. A few days later i thought about loading a old shard i had just for fun but couldn't remember all the codes so shelved that idea. Finally i did a UO search and found the top 200 and joined. Thank you.

Yarrrr me when i got internet after 2 year without playing uo was shearching for a Server on Top 200 and i see Excelsior in time was not in highest rank i rush to connect to it but all work i put in too i said to myself i must play to this shard and the first day i meet Cygnus and than e show me To love Excelsior and decide To create Shark Tale Tavern and now i does lot of fun with my role playing to be the only roleplaying guild in the shard Yarrrr

I was getting board of a different game that I play/played at the time. I new about ultima from playing the non online versions as a kid but never did try uo so I thought I would look into it. The offical site seemed kind of dead to me so I started looking into the free shards.

I found a few toplists and looked over some of the shards listed. While checking them out I considered things like an active forum with current posts and some game and guide info. With Excelsior I found recent posts from the staff and some helpful start up posts and hints. I also liked the idea of having no pvp:). So here I am.
