just to say, i wasn't at my puter waiting on the sunday idoc drop because i was so tired i went to bed due to meds...however i think it was just wrong to not only start it late with no announcement for those who had spent at least a few hours running around marking houses that were idoc and then when it didnt start on time prolly did as i did and attended to rl matters and went afk at TC. then to say oh well ill start it anyways to bad so sad for those that didnt sit at computer for who knows how long it will be waiting waiting waiting for the houses to drop or some word on when if it would start....just my opinion...ifn it was me i would of postponed for at least 24 hours ( or even until next weekend) and had town criers n post on forums the info. would of been easy to plz everyone that was interested and worked to be at the idoc event. just my opinion

If he had waited someone else would have posted upset that they waited for 45 minutes and it was postponed. You can't please everyone :|

Yeah, sorry about that, I know not everybody stayed at the computer for that long to watch if the houses are actually going to drop. The way I see it, most people who were into picking up the items from fallen houses, would be doing that for an hour after the drops anyway, so that's why I decided to drop them at the time. I wish I'd have thought of giving a bit more advanced notice, something like 20 minutes, for those who might be near the computer but weren't actively looking at the chat.

Noted, I hope we won't have these mishaps in the future.

I can see both sides of the argument.

Postponing would not please everyone either, since some of the people that waited it out to see if the event would still happen may not be able to make it to the new date. So either way, someone loses out.

Not popular opinion; but could do a way with IDOC events and put idocs on random timers to fall.

Not everything should be effortless ! Back in the day we would track house decay for weeks trying to determine when that fairly went to greatly worn and then on to IDOC so as to have an approximate idea of when the house would drop. Then camping that house for hours till it finally drops whilst fighting off reds and organized guilds of idoc'ers. Then once someone got a house placed where the old one stood all the loot would go to one big pile under the new house sign where you had to grab and run to avoid the fracas. A 45 minute wait pales in comparison!

Could be worse:

Every IDOC event since its rebirth could occur while you have been at work.

Just like every Grand Auction in the 4 years I have been here has happened when I have been at work - hence why I splurge on Trinsic Raffles so much.

#Note - I just made the "delaygate" IDOC a little late as I started some holidays. Seems I went round after the vultures, so I mostly just got some tokens for cleaning up the trash left. (Though I did get a pouch of 75 Fel TMaps that was hidden under some junk)

Maybe it would be best to just vape the IDOC houses and contents to save all the ire.

As far as what we can learn from this event is that perhaps in the future +C should establish a 30-45 min rule since with the real life going on and kids etc this may happen again in the future and we can just safelly walk away after a period of MIA GM :)

These IDOCs will likely remain announced, as a mass drop event. For a long time, they were unannounced, houses dropping at random times, and it turned out there was just 1 player who was marking runes and checking all the houses (well, it was two players, but not at the same time). If these drops are no longer announced, they will eventually become shrouded in obscurity, with only a handful of people having the benefit.

Possum12, sorry to hear about your situation, weekends are just the time when most players are online.

I'll do my best to keep things on schedule. Overall, last event I was late for that I remember, was for an auction sometime in 2009 when I was snowed in while visiting relatives.
