Lach, you also need to donate 2K to the excelsior relief fund.. Just sell the switch, it is almost obsolete by now :).

Yeah I think my donation days are over unless it's an investment. Idiotic to throw money in something in a worse place it was a year ago.

That's probably coming in useful. I wish I had one when Texas got hit by the snow storm and I had no power in an all-electric small house for 3+ days. :D Pretty sure me being inside and breathing is all that kept the place from freezing over.

What generator did you end up going with? I've been considering one for the new place with a hookup to the house circuit.

Hey buddy I got this one from tractor supply.

Champion Power Equipment 10,000/8,000-Watt Dual-Fuel Home Backup Portable Generator, CO Shield, Electric Start

It was just over 1,149 something + tax well worth it.

Nice. I saw a similar one on sale on Amazon a while back for super cheap but didn't have a place for it at the time, now the prices are way up. :D Wish I'd just picked it up.

I saw this guy that picked up an old military surplus diesel generator on the cheap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ChQhIzUXr4
I definitely don't have the space for that thing though, lol.

At 74dBA, those are very noisy. it'll sound like your neighbor's lawn care company has a team out mowing the lawn. 24 hours a day.

The Honda EU7000i, on the other hand, is quiet, a meager 52dBA. Much more expensive, but you won't be able to hear it when you're inside the house. It also generates much cleaner power that doesn't sag and surge so much as your refrigerator and air conditioner cut on and off.

If the noise becomes a problem, you can also make a DIY soundproofing box to help with that pretty easily with some wood and foam/padding. :D Just have to take care about the intakes/etc. Also has the added benefit of keeping the weather off of it and having a pre-filter for the air intake to keep leaves and stuff away.

You can also replace the spark arrestor with a real muffler, but you're not going to get it down to 52 dBA.

Great tool, solves all noise problems,if only some scream while sharpening. If things is too thick, than can use machette :D

I actually have this being made I'm probably gonna use this for a while but if in the future power outages get worse with weather. I'm gonna go with one of those just whole home generators.
