Making a New Character problems

I want to make a new character, but in every single attempt I fail because my original character is 'logged on'.

I've tried hiding and logging out in an Inn, I've tried hiding and logging out 10 squares away from the Innkeeper. I've tried hiding and logging off on a teleporter, inside the Town Center. I've even logged out of chat just in case. Obviously I've given the other character to time out on all of these but still, nothing's working (even waiting til the next day etc).

Any ideas? It's pretty annoying repeatedly creating a new character from scratch just to get an error pop-up in your face.

EDIT: I now even own a boat, and hiding on that doesn't seem to do the trick either. :goodsuprise:

If you don't have a house to log out in, I'd suggest using the world teleporter to one of the many 'apartments' on the server. Use the Custom button on the teleporter menu. The Apartments are the second button on the following menu, then step onto one of the four city teleporters (Minoc - North, Minoc - South, Moonglow, Trinsic Inn). Then, simply choose an un-owned apartment, hide inside of it, then proceed to logout. This should fix the problems you've mentioned. :D

The message "another character is logged into the world" is actually wrong. It means that there exists another player online or offline, in the world. Since there is no message such as "there already exists a player with that name" coded into the client, i've used this one. But i see it's making problems and i will change it back.
